Description :
The Job Coach is responsible for training, supervising, and supporting individual with disabilities in the community specifically relating to the individual’s employment needs. They will adhere to the policies established by The Arc Eastern Connecticut, Inc. Board of Directors.
Essential Functions :
- Provides individualized supports, services, and advocacy to persons with intellectual and other related developmental disabilities to help facilitate their full participation and inclusion in the communities of Southeastern Connecticut.
- Ensures confidentiality as required by law and the Arc and DDS policies and procedures.
- Trains, supervises, and supports program participants according to the principles of Supported Employment and based on current trends and methods.
- Ensures the participants’ work is quality and that each participant is meeting the production standards that have been set by the employer(s).
- Acts as the primary liaison between assigned worksites and the Arc.
- Provides training and information to job site personnel.
- Develops community contacts with potential employers.
- Meets employment specification of sub-contractors.
- Provides transportation for work utilizing own (proof of insurance required) or Arc vehicle or arranges transportation utilizing community transportation resources.
- Teaches travel skills to program participants as needed.
- Ensures the safety of all individuals including the proper use of equipment, facilities, and vehicles.
- Reports all accidents and incidents immediately to supervisor.
- Provides a written incident report according to Arc safety policies and procedures.
- Develops, implements, and maintains neat, accurate, and comprehensive written assessment records including annual and quarterly reviews, service plan, approved behavior programs and procedures.
- Transfers and lifts individuals as needed.
- Deescalates a participant’s aggressive behavior according to DDS policies and procedures (may be required to complete this task without assistance).
- Assists in the cleaning maintenance of Arc facilities and vehicles.
- Periodically reviews the information in master files and files those documents correctly.
- Other duties may be designated to maintain service quality.
