Job Title: Adult Enrichment Assistant
Department: Pollak Training Center- Adult Enrichment
Reports To: Adult Enrichment Manager
JOB SUMMARY
The Program Assistant will support adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities (IDD) in a compassionate and professional manner. Their successful candidate will help implement individualized plans and ensure the safety and well-being of our clients, who may occasionally exhibit challenging behaviors, including self-harm, physical force, and loud outbursts. This role focuses on enriching the lives of our clients by assisting in the development of life skills and promoting their overall well-being.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Assist in the implementation of individual support plans tailored to the unique needs of each client.
· Provide behavior management intervention, direct care, and support to clients, including assistance with daily living activities, personal care, social activities, and encourage appropriate behaviors.
· Supervise assigned persons, provide relevant instruction and intervention, and monitor assigned activities.
· Monitor and document clients’ progress and behavior, reporting any significant changes or incidents to the Department Manager.
· Utilize de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviors and ensure a safe environment for all clients and staff.
· Participate in the development and facilitation of engaging activities that promote skill development and social interaction.
· Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
· Maintain regular communications with the Adult Enrichment Department Manager as well as with clients, families, and other team members to provide holistic support.
· Attend regular training sessions to stay updated on best practices and strategies for supporting individuals with disabilities.
- Maintain safe working conditions through training and regular inspections of assigned area. Make recommendations for supplies, equipment/building maintenance and repair as indicated to ensure safe working conditions.
- Advocate for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (IDD) through public/community relations.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
1 year of related experience preferred. Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, proof of auto insurance.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record and proof of insurance. Must pass FDLE fingerprint check, Dept. of Children and Families Abuse Registry check, local and criminal background check, Affidavit of Good Moral Character, and drug screen. Successful completion of CPR, First Aid, HIV/ Blood Bourne Pathogens, Direct Care Core Competencies, Zero Tolerance, and HIPPA certifications will be required.

Beginning Salary: $15.00/hour
Status: Non-Exempt
Working Hours: Monday –Friday, 7:15 a.m. - 2:15 p.m., 35 hrs/week
