The Arc Greater Hudson Valley, NY is currently hiring a Behavior Technician to work out of Poughkeepsie, NY.

Schedule: Monday Thru Friday - 40 hours per week - Flexible

Pay Rate: $19.33

Requirements Include: Bachelor’s degree is preferred but a high school diploma with experience in the field will be considered.

Behavior Technician Job Description:

1. Develops plans/protocols and data collection systems at discretion of and under the guidance of BIS.

2. Maintains knowledge about behavioral/psychological issues of each person supported on their caseload

3. Participates in IDT meetings

4. Regularly observes behavior, and staff implementation of plans and protocols at assigned locations.

5. Attends house meetings as Behavioral Support representative

6. Provides suggestions for modification, alteration, additional training or supports to Behavior Intervention Specialist and team.

7. Develops and provides skill training for staff on topics such as autism, dementia, mental health conditions, etc., as necessary.

8. Trains staff on behavior plan/protocol implementation and program revisions.

9. Responsible for compiling and analyzing data for HRC, psychiatry appointments and meetings.

10. Work closely with and under the direction of the BIS

11. Travel to various agency sites required.

12. Responsible for conducting sexuality/relationship education classes for people supported as needed

13. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.

14. Follow the Arc Greater Hudson Valley mission statement and core values

15. Attend trainings as required (internal and external)

16. Abide by federal, state and local laws governing patient care standards and privacy regulations.

17. Perform any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Maintain valid licenses {including driving license, as applicable], certifications or any other credentials that are required or necessary to carry out the responsibilities upon and throughout employment.

Qualifications:

1. Must be able to establish and maintain professional working relationships with a variety of agency staff (DSPs, DHPs, middle and executive management).

2. Must be able to organize and maintain a comprehensive database of caseload specific plans/protocols to ensure there are no lapses in consents or expiration dates

3. Must be flexible as hours may vary based on program need to included evening and/or weekend hours.

4. Valid New York State driver license.

5. Bachelor’s Degree or high school diploma with experience working in the field of I/DD is required.

Physical Requirements:

· Physically able to bend/stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, push/pull, reach above and below shoulder level frequently and move about quickly.

· Daily computer operation at workstation up to one (1) hour at a time, requiring sitting, viewing screen, and operating keyboard and computer mouse.

· Independently lift up to 50 lbs up to five (5) times/day.

· Ability to transfer patients independently, with a mechanical lift or with assistance of another staff person.

· Adequate vision and hearing ability, with or without correction, to be constantly aware of, detect and able to respond to needs of patients, including when not in immediate vicinity.

· Exposed to bites, kicks, punches, spitting and other physical behaviors of adults with ID/DD.

· Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: Must be able to write, type and use office and/or other equipment and handle materials 75-100%.
