Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work – ​40 hours per week; Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. flexible to the needs of the department. Overtime as approved by Supervisor.​ This is a temporary position. This position has responsibilities for both counties too. ​

Qualifications - ​ Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field, with 1-2 years’ experience working in the field of disabilities to include OPWDD, OMH, OASAS, SED, OCFS or similar agencies or Associate’s Degree in Human Services or related field, with 2-4 years’ experience working in same as above​

Relevant Certifications – none required for this position.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance – ​Authorized to work in the United States and pass all background clearances.​

Summary/Objective – ​Perform internal audits as assigned under the direction of the Director of Compliance or Corporate Compliance Specialist. The Compliance Auditor will assist the Director of Compliance in the preparation of internal and governmental reports, audits, etc. as assigned. ​

  • Support the goals, objectives, and philosophy of the agency.
  • Will support the Agency’s values by working with measurable signs of PRIDE.
Essential Functions – Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

1. Develops a working knowledge of program and regulatory aspects, including documentation requirements, of all services offered by The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence.
2. Writes detailed internal audit reports for review by the Director of Compliance and/or Corporate Compliance Specialist.
3. Completes trend reports related to compliance audits.
4. Reviews records, reports, and any other relevant programs and activities affected by regulations.
5. Makes recommendations for changes to procedures/practices that are not in compliance, and assists to implement a plan to address such changes.
6. Analyzes risks within specific areas, including reviewing risk assessment studies.
7. Maintains the Compliance/Ethics Contact Log, compiling a report of the contacts and follow-up each month to the Director of Compliance.
8. Attends all meetings of the Corporate Compliance Committee and assists with completing comprehensive minutes.
9. Attends HIPAA Privacy and Security Committee Meetings.
10. Attends Document Retention Committee Meetings.
11. Completes investigations as assigned.
12. Provides training to both newly hired staff and existing staff on Corporate Compliance, HIPAA, and HIPAA Privacy and Security.
13. Provides targeted training sessions as appropriate.

Additional Functions – These are positions/duties that are performed in addition to those described above for the Compliance Auditor

1. Acts as resource regarding the Corporate Compliance Plan, policies, and regulations to all staff.

Supervisory Responsibility – This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Travel - ​Ability to travel to different work locations as assigned. Must maintain valid driver’s license, insurance and vehicle inspection. Ability to utilize personal vehicle or agency vehicle per agency policies​

Work Environment – This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Some audits will be conducted at the program sites. Any required safety measures required for those sites will be observed (appropriate dress, security measures, etc.)

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; lift; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Work may require lifting, pushing, or pulling in excess of 30 pounds. ​

Wage Range - $19.83-$22.61/Hour, more based on education and experience
