Position Type/Expected Hours of Work – Typically 7:30 am to 4:00 pm with flexibility depending on the needs of the Agency.
Qualifications - High School Diploma; Knowledge of DMV and DOT regulations pertaining to vehicle maintenance requirements; Minimum 2 years of experience in garage scheduling; Knowledge of general mechanical repairs to vehicles and possess ability to perform repairs. Must have or ability to obtain a New York State CDL License within placement into position.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance – Authorized to work in the United States and pass all background clearances.
Summary/Objective - Responsible for the maintenance program for all agency vehicles to ensure safety standards are met. Includes successful passing of vehicles through New York State Inspections. Responsible to respond to Driver emergencies and procedures are followed.
Essential Functions – Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. Schedule maintenance of all agency vehicles on a daily basis.
2. Establish maintenance schedule for all Agency vehicles to ensure preventative maintenance program.
3. Schedule vehicles for outside repairs and ensure all repairs are completed.
4. Assist with mechanical repairs as needed.
5. Maintain work order system on all repairs for cost center billing.
6. Advise Supervisor of general status and condition of all agency vehicles.
7. Maintain a reasonable parts inventory to ensure parts are available for proper maintenance of vehicles.
8. Establish and maintain a positive relationship with vendors when purchasing needed parts.
9. Meet with salesmen, compare pricing on supplies for inventory. Purchase utilizing P.O.’s approved by Supervisor when applicable.
10. Ensure proper maintenance of garage area, i.e., supervise clean-up and advise Supervisor of needed repairs.
11. Responsible to ensure only authorized use of garage and equipment.
12. Coordinate with the Transportation Dept.:
a. assignment of vehicles for field trips;
b. vehicle replacement due to repairs;
c. all other issues regarding vehicles
13. Schedule to ensure “Paging” system is in place for driver emergencies, during times Drivers are on the road.
14. Supply your Supervisor with information on all Grant vehicles at least quarterly.
15. Perform a daily safety inspection of your site(s) is conducted to minimize and address any possible safety hazards, and to ensure all equipment is being utilized safely and properly.

Work Environment – This position regularly works within a garage environment using associated tools.
