Employment Specialist
The Arc of Cape May County is seeking an Employment Specialist to be responsible for providing direct support and employment related services to individuals with developmental disabilities. An Associate’s degree or higher in a related field from an accredited college or university is required, plus three (3) years of related experience, and familiarity with the demands and expectations of the applicable business, experience and skills for the assigned area of employment are required.
Assist individuals with developmental disabilities with job development, resume creation, applying to jobs, interviewing practice, job interviews, orientation, and helping them learn and perform their jobs on-site to their employer’s standards.
The Arc of Cape May County is a non-profit agency serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Cape May County. We are supportive of their goals and assist with their needs. Our goal is to provide quality assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities and to help them to become as independent as possible.
The Employment Specialist provides personalized vocational rehabilitative supports to program participants and ensures participant’s physical and emotional safety on job-sites at all times and assists them to obtain long-term, gainful employment.
Must be able to monitor the physical environment to ensure the safety of individuals and coworkers on job sites to the satisfaction of employers, DDD, and DVRS, conscientiously complete medication administration and health-related activities, and transport individuals served to and from home, job sites, and other community sites and events as assigned.
This position also orients each individual to their respective job responsibilities, work schedule, working conditions, employer rules, safety procedures, breaks, facilities, and expectations, plus maintains timely and detailed documentation to ensure services provided are billable and compliance with state agencies.
An Associate’s degree or higher in a related field from an accredited college or university is required. Three (3) years of related experience, and familiarity with the demands and expectations of the applicable business, experience and skills for the assigned area of employment are required.
A driver's license valid in the state of New Jersey and driving record acceptable to insurance and regulatory requirements is also required.
