Job Summary:
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the physical maintenance repairs of agency owned and leased properties including residences, apartments, day program sites, camp, school, and other facilities, as assigned.
This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Respond to maintenance and repair work orders either assigned or from personal observation during routine site visits and preventive maintenance inspections
- Complete building maintenance and repair jobs to include jobs related to, but not limited to, painting, plumbing, electrical, light masonry, carpentry, tile and floor repair, minor HVAC troubleshooting and repair etc.
- Responsible for appliance installation, furniture assembly and repair
- Assist in consumer relocations - moving of furniture and personal items
- Participate in building and grounds preventative seasonal maintenance program, periodic site evaluations and annual reviews.
- Procure supplies and materials from local retail and wholesale suppliers and vendors
- Maintain inventory and records as assigned
- Participate in overtime and on-call work rotation as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education / Work Experience / Skills:
- High school diploma required
- 5 years of relevant work experience required
- A valid Driver’s License with good driving record
- Some computer skills required
Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to:
- Talk and hear
- Sit, stand and walk
- Climb ladders and stairs
- Bend, stoop and kneel
- Operate power and hand tools
- Operate company vehicle
- Lift and/or move heavy objects including appliances and furniture with assistance devices
