Position: Behavior Consultant (Independent Contractor)
Company: The Arc of Evansville
Location: Evansville, IN and surrounding communities (Remote/In-Person as needed)
Schedule: Full flexibility to set your own schedule, including which workdays/hours you work
Salary: $55.00 - $64.00 per billable hour
The Arc is seeking highly qualified independent Behavior Consultants that will help to deliver behavioral support services that are designed to support individuals who are experiencing or are likely to experience challenges accessing and actively participating in the community as a result of behavioral, social, or emotional challenges. Behavioral support services are intended to empower individuals and families (by leveraging their strengths and unique abilities) to achieve self-determination, interdependence, productivity, integration, and inclusion in all facets of community life, across all environments, across the lifespan.
Independent Contractor Status:
- The Behavior Consultant is an independent contractor, not an employee of The Arc of Evansville.
- The Behavior Consultant is responsible for self-employment taxes, liability/malpractice insurance, professional dues, continuing education, and office equipment.
- No benefits such as worker's compensation, health insurance, or retirement plans are provided.
- The contractor has full flexibility to set their own schedule, including selecting workdays and hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct functional behavioral assessments, including:
- Observations, environmental assessments, record reviews, interviews, and data collection.
- Completion of psychosocial and biomedical histories to identify targeted behaviors.
- Develop and revise comprehensive Behavior Support Plans (BSP) using proactive and reactive strategies tailored to individual needs.
- Obtain and document the consensus of the Individualized Support Team (IST) on the feasibility of BSP implementation.
- Provide training to staff, family members, housemates, and other IST members on BSP implementation.
- Support individuals in acquiring new, positive behaviors as outlined in the BSP.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure effective assessment and behavioral planning.
- Utilize The Arc of Evansville's designated billing system, AccelTrax, for timely and accurate service documentation.
Prohibited Services:
- Unapproved restrictive techniques.
- Therapy services provided in educational/school settings.
- Services rendered by a parent, step-parent, legal guardian, or spouse.
- Billing for Level 1 services when performing Level 2 clinician activities.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must meet the qualifications outlined in 460 IAC 6-5-4 and Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) Behavioral Support Services.
- Master's degree in one of the following fields:
- Clinical psychology, counseling psychology, school psychology, special education, social work, counseling, or related human services field.
- OR licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
- OR bachelor's degree with qualifications per Indiana regulations.
- Maintain professional liability insurance ($1,000,000 minimum coverage).
- Valid CPR/First Aid certification.
- Negative TB test results.
- Reliable transportation and vehicle insurance meeting Indiana state requirements.
- Completion of annual state and county background checks.
- Obtain at least 10 continuing education hours annually related to behavioral support services.
