The Accounting Manager position is a full-time, exempt position in the Finance Department, responsible for all daily aspects of the financial operations of The Arc of King County. This position works in close collaboration with the CFO to develop, implement and manage agency staff and resources to successfully achieve desired agency outcomes. This position supports the agency’s efforts to undo institutional racism, build cultural competence and serve an increasingly diverse population.
The main responsibilities of the Accounting Manager are focused on general accounting functions, supervision of staff and the Representative Payee operations of the Agency with a focus on ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and reporting. The Accounting Manager plans and directs daily banking, accounts payable, payroll, invoicing, monitoring of internal controls and design and implementation of procedures. The Accounting Manager provides daily supervision of staff and monitors monthly reconciliation processes. Additionally, the position will prepare and file various tax reports within required deadlines.

Essential Functions
- Manages and oversees daily operations of the accounting department.
- Monitors and analyzes accounting data on a timely basis.
- Establishes and enforces proper accounting methods, policies, and principles in accordance to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Performs ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.
- Supervises and/or manages general ledger accounting functions.
- Hires, trains, retains, and develops staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training and maintaining strong employee relationships.
- Works with external auditor to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting of financial results.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3 years of progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role.
- Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization.
- Knowledge of employee relationship building and performance management techniques.
- Thorough knowledge of payroll required filings.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks skills and experience with other financial systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse economic, cultural, and social backgrounds.
- Experience in using MS Office Suite.
Physical And Other Requirements
- Ability to maintain prolonged attention and typing in an open office environment
- Strength sufficient to carry boxes of materials and display boards to external locations
- Daily presence in the office during work week is required, although scheduled days to work at home are possible.
- Ability to occasionally work flexible hours and days.
- WA drivers’ license.
- Ability to pass a DSHS Criminal Background Check.
Salary : $70,000 - $100,000
