Direct Support Professionals Needed (DSPs) 

The pay is $18.29/hour. We offer excellent benefits which include 3 weeks' vacation in the first year. Our health insurance is unparalleled! There is NO deductible on most services and employees pay as little as $10.16 per week!

The Arc of Litchfield County, Inc. (Larc), is seeking professional, kind, caring, creative, and energetic Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to assist people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live full and happy lives. Spend your days positively enhancing the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing support in every aspect of their lives.

Whether it is a vocational/day program, or a home setting (group home and in-home setting), you can make a difference. Create fun and innovative activities to share with supported individuals. The DSP position is hands-on. You will provide personal care including personal hygiene, food preparation, transportation, and recreational activities, such as going to the movies, shopping, concerts, dining out, etc. All at no cost to you, you get paid to help the people you support HAVE FUN!

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

• All necessary training is provided and paid.
• You must possess a high school diploma or GED and agree to background screening and pre-employment physical, which includes drug screening.
• You must also be at least 21 years of age with a valid Connecticut driver’s license and have a clean driving record.
• Some computer proficiency is necessary.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• The DSP shall have essential physical skills: be able to run, squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, be able to lift at least 50 pounds (or ¼ own body weight), push/pull against potential resistance, and be able to implement non-physical and physical interventions and CPR with individuals supported when needed.
• The DSP shall have adequate vision, reading, writing, and documentation skills, and hearing to perform the essential functions of the job.
• The DSP must have sufficient endurance to perform tasks over long periods of time.
• The DSP will be engaged in speaking, sitting, walking, driving, listening, and in communicating both orally and in writing while performing his or her duties.
• The employee must be able to listen and respond to questions and instructions.
