Easterseals Arc of Northeast Indiana seeks a Pre-ETS Coach to join its Pre-Employment Transitions Services program. As a Pre-ETS Coach you will provide services to students with disabilities to improve their outcomes after high school and assist them with a positive transition from high school to adult life. Such services may include but are not limited to implementing plans for work-life skills training and experiences based on the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and personal goals.
Responsibilities:
· Must have a valid Indiana Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and willingness to transport students we support as needed to community locations as planned for their services being provided.
· Communicate effectively and professionally in any aspect with co-workers, supervisors, community partners, school districts, and families. Maintain constant communication and team approach with co-workers and supervisors.
· Provide individualized services such as, but not limited to: job exploration, work-based learning experiences, Workplace readiness skills, Self-advocacy, and instruction in post-secondary opportunities.
· Provide classroom-based instruction and community-based learning experiences based on the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and personal goals. Such learning experiences may include but not be limited to vocational exploration, work-life skills, independent living skills, socialization skills, and community exploration.
Qualifications:
· At least 18 years of age required.
· High School diploma or GED preferred.
· Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks.
· Must have a current driver’s license, proof of insurance, safe driving history, and car to drive.
· Basic language, written and computer skills necessary for communication and documentation
· Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration and other trainings as deemed necessary by the agency
· Able to be flexible to meet the changing needs and desires of the people we support.
Working Conditions: Pre-ETS Coaches work in a changing environment that adjusts to the needs of the individuals in program services. Pre-ETS Coaches need to be flexible and be able to adjust to changing needs, activities, and locations. Pre-ETS Coaches must have an insured, safe vehicle in good working order to utilize for possible transportation required for staff and program participants to and from service locations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT- Depending on the needs of the individuals, the work can be physically demanding including transferring or supporting people with mobility needs, lifting or moving items up to 75 lbs, walking or standing for extended periods of time or providing support through CPR/First Aid, behavioral support, and other interventions. Staff may work with violent/physically aggressive participants and responds to emergency situations involving potential physical harm to self and others.
