GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the administrative supervision of the Residential Program Specialist, the position is responsible for the management of the community-based home, the implementation of plans for the consumers, and the supervision of the Residential Direct Support Professionals (DSP's).
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF JOB:
- ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:
- Recognize that each individual served is to be afforded dignity, respect, and self-determination to the fullest extent possible.
- Cooperate with the Residential Program Specialist by working within the rules and regulations set forth in Arc Residential Policies and Procedures, the Office of Developmental Programs, and the Administrative Entity (A.E.), sponsoring county program office.
- Assist the Interdisciplinary Team in the development of Person Centered/Individual Support Plan including outcomes, prescriptive techniques, medical needs, recreation, community inclusion, etc.
- Supervise Residential DSP's in implementing any Annual Plan or prescriptive techniques to ensure accurate data collection, service notes, logs and charting, and that all consumers are involved in community inclusive experiences.
- Supervise DSP's with regard to the performance of domestic duties to ensure that housekeeping, laundry, and cleanliness in the home is maintained.
- Supervise DSP's especially with regard to attending to the daily needs of individuals served (i.e., medication administration, personal hygiene, meal preparation, etc.)
- Maintain Residential home staff time punches. Monitor and review/approve requests for vacation/personal leave. Conduct probationary and annual performance evaluations in conjunction with Human Resources.
- Monitor all DSP training records to ensure that minimum training requirements are met.
- Assist in the orientation and training of DSP's.
- Schedule all medical appointments ensuring that all consumers' medical needs are met. Accompany consumers to medical appointments. Maintain accurate medical records and forward copies to the Residential Program Specialist and appropriate Service Coordination Origination as well as parents, guardians, and Day Program staff as deemed appropriate or necessary.
- Monitor the storage and administration of all consumer's medications as prescribed by the physician. Ensure that medication logs are complete and accurate. Report any medication related incidents and errors to the Med Supervisor and Residential Program Specialist.
- Observe guidelines outlined in The Arc Policy and Procedures Manual regarding "Management of Consumer's Funds and Property." Maintain and monitor household accounts to ensure that individual financial logs are accurate and that individual financial logs are accurate and that individual account balances are correct. Submit copies of financial logs and receipts to the Residential Program Specialist for monthly review.
- Maintain household petty cash accounts by submitting reports and receipts to The Arc's Fiscal Office.
- Monitor the care and maintenance of the home and all furnishings, equipment, and supplies. Submit purchase requests and repair/work orders as necessary. Requisition and/or obtain appropriate supplies.
- Assess weekly staffing needs and patterns. Contact and schedule substitutes when needed. Work overtime as deemed necessary by the Residential Program Specialist such as in the event of an emergency, if an open shift cannot be filled successfully, etc.
- Assumes weekly on-call responsibilities and participates in a weekend on-call rotation schedule which includes oversight of "sister homes".
- OTHER ELEMENTS:
- Maintain regular communications with Arc Administration via regular scheduling of office visits with the Residential Program Specialist, or other appropriate Administrative personnel as appropriate.
- Attend and participate in Residential Supervisor's meetings and/or required in/out-service training. Occasionally provide staff in/out-service training.
- Communicate with consumers' parents, families, guardians, friends, and the Interdisciplinary team by disseminating pertinent information regarding the consumer.
- Coordinate and conduct home staff meetings as needed.
