Position Summary:

This position is directly responsible to the Director of Respite and Recreation.  The Respite Manager is responsible for managing the rendition of respite services including: in-home, center based, and community-based respite care. This position provides direct oversight and direction to the respite team to ensure that the highest quality individualized services are provided.

 Under the guidance and direction of the Director of Respite and Recreation, this position will collaborate with a variety of community partners, including local service groups and other service providers, to facilitate community integration and collaborative efforts in the provision of respite services. Works closely with other agency staff and representatives to ensure positive relations.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:               

  • Participates in the planning and implementation of agency Respite Program.
  • Provides oversight and direction to the Respite team to ensure that the highest quality individualized services are provided both within center-based and residential programs.
  • Conducts initial family intake and assessment.
  • Fosters a trusting and collaborative relationship between families and service providers.
  • Responsible for the assignment of families to the most appropriate service provider. 
  • Ensures that adequate numbers of well-trained staff and volunteers attend applicable events or activities, including the designation of an activity supervisor. Performs coaching and observation requirements for respite staff.
  • Responsible for the recruitment and training of new team members.
  • Responsible for the ongoing recruitment of new program participants.
  • Ensures that information about Respite events are distributed in a timely manner to individuals, families, and community partners. Creates calendars and flyers advertising the events. 
  • Serve as back-up for established client caseloads in the event of staff extended absence or vacancy.
  • Completes all required programmatic trainings.
  • Monitor client files kept by supervisees.
  • Conducts field observations for all supervisees in accordance with department policies.
  • Conducts record reviews for each supervisee on a monthly basis in accordance with department policies.
  • Conducts monthly individual supervision with team members
  • Responsible for capturing and maintaining appropriate program documentation.  
  • Responsible for aggregating and preparing monthly, quarterly, yearly programmatic reports.  
  • Supports Program Director in developing annual goals, long range plans and strategies for program offerings, including assessment of needs and interests, identifying funding sources, projecting expenses and attendance, contacting community sites, etc., with assistance from the Senior Director.
  • Collaborates with accounting/finance, in order to facilitate the collection of fees for service according to established practices.
  • Fosters relationships with community partners, including local service groups and other service providers, to facilitate community integration and collaborative efforts in the provision of respite services

  • Attends professional development in-service training sessions, conferences or meetings, serves on agency committees as requested.

  • Identify concerns, generate and evaluate alternate solutions and make sound recommendations.

 Education and Experience Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, or related field preferred or high school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the minimum requirements.  
  • At least 5 years of programs and services experience required.
  • Must possess and maintain a current Florida’s Driver’s License and state minimum requirements for auto insurance.

 Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: 

  • Regularly remains in a stationary position, moves about inside the office, and positions self to access office equipment or files.
  • Occasionally positions self to access low or confined spaces and moves office equipment and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasionally travels to project sites, which may involve ascending/descending uneven terrain and positioning oneself to inspect or observe conditions.
  • Primarily works in a typical indoor/office environment that involves prolonged periods of sitting and frequent use of computers and other office equipment.
  • Must be able to detect, perceive, and assess visual information at varying distances, discern colors, and adjust focus.
  • Must be able to convey, exchange, and receive information clearly and effectively in professional situations.
