Position Summary :

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in delivering health services at Laurel Day Services. This includes supporting the provision of essential medical care and ensuring that all services are delivered promptly by qualified personnel in alignment with each individual's care plan. Additionally, the LPN's helps individuals engage fully in the social, recreational, and educational activities offered at Laurel Day Services.

Working Days & Hours :

  • Scheduled Work Days :   Monday - Friday
  • Work Hours : 8 : 30am - 4 : 30pm (40hrs / wk)
  • Location :   Laurel Day Program

What You'll Be Doing Day-to-Day :

Health Services :

  • Review and update nursing care plans for participants.
  • Conduct daily health assessments and address identified healthcare needs.
  • Administer medications and treatments within prescribed timeframes and document accordingly.
  • Communicate with families, caregivers, and staff about participants' health-related issues.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing and Program Directors to resolve acute health concerns.
  • Support participants in engaging fully in program activities, including community outings.
  • Ensure compliance with DDA and Maryland Board of Nursing regulations.
  • Administrative :

  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings when required.
  • Train and supervise direct support staff in health care practices.
  • Provide guidance and training to participants to promote independence in managing their health.
  • Assist with hygiene-related tasks, including toileting, feeding, and transferring participants when needed.
  • Maintain and update documentation, including medication administration records (MARs), progress notes, and incident reports.
  • Supervise or assist staff in implementing physical and occupational therapy recommendations.
  • Communication and Documentation :

  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with participants, families, and caregivers.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of participants' progress, activities, and health updates in ICare.
  • Observe and document participants' behaviors and physical patterns, such as feeding and bowel habits.
  • Familiarize yourself with and consistently implement Behavior Support Plans and Person-Centered Plans.
  • You are the Ideal Candidate If :

  • Valid LPN license for the state of Maryland. (Required)
  • Have at least 1 year of related experience working with individuals in a care-giving setting. (Required)
  • Have the ability to successfully complete training requirements of The Arc of Prince George's County.
  • Have Strong communication skills and demonstrated care-giving skills such as personal care provision and repositioning skills. (Required)
  • Able to lift an individual with assistance (two-person lift).
  • Willing and able to travel to and assist at other residential sites as needed.
