Position Description

This position works with individuals, support teams and a psychologist to assess, diagnose and treat behaviors that interfere with intellectual, social and emotional development and the development of a valued social role. This role will be expected to carry out all duties in alignment with agency values, and in accordance with Part 633.16 of the OPWDD operating standards. Candidates must have a valid NYS Driver's License with at least 1 year of driving experience with that license.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Behavior Intervention Specialist II :

At least a Master’s degree from a program in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology, or applied psychology as it relates to human development and clinical interventions, and documented training in assessment techniques and behavior support plan development; or A National Board certification in behavior analysis (BCBA) and a Master’s degree in a field closely related to clinical or community psychology that is approved by OPWDD; or

A New York State License in mental health counseling (LMHC)
A National Board certification in behavior analysis (BCBA) and a Master’s degree in behavior analysis; or
Five (5) years’ experience working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities, including the development, implementation and monitoring of behavior support plans; or

Five (5) years’ experience providing supervision and training to others in the implementation of behavior support plans

Behavior Intervention Specialist I:
Option A:
A National Board certification in behavior analysis BCBA and a Master’s degree in behavior analysis, or
a field closely related to clinical or community psychology that is approved by OPWDD; or

Option B:
A Master’s degree in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology as it relates to human development or clinical intervention or a related human service field; or
A New York State license in mental health counseling (LMHC); and have or obtain OPWDD-approved specialized training or experience in functional assessment techniques and behavior support plan development
Option C:
A Bachelor’s degree in a human service field; and
Have provided behavioral services for an agency in the OPWDD system as of, and continuously since, December 31, 2012; and
Is actively working toward a Master’s degree in an applied area of psychology, social work, or special education; or
Completing at least one graduate level course in an applied health service area of applied psychology, social work, or special education each year

ADDITIONAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
NYS driver’s license that meets agency guidelines
Reliable Transportation
Basic computer skills
