Description
The Director of Billing oversees all clinical billing functions for services such as Occupational Therapy (OT), Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), Psychiatry, Physical Therapy (PT), and Counseling. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely billing and claims submission, managing reimbursement processes, maintaining compliance with payer regulations, and optimizing revenue cycle performance.

Qualifications
The Director of Billing oversees all billing functions for our clinic, including satellite locations, which specialize in Autism and Neurodevelopmental Assessments and Therapies, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and other clinical services. This role is responsible for managing the billing process for services such as Occupational Therapy (OT), Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), Psychiatry, Physical Therapy (PT), and Counseling for both children and adults.
Key responsibilities include ensuring accurate and timely claims submission, managing reimbursement processes, maintaining compliance with billing regulations, overseeing insurance authorizations and denials, and optimizing revenue cycle performance.
General supervision is received from the Senior Vice President of Finance; however, the employee is expected to exercise independent judgment and initiative within established guidelines and procedures. This is a salaried, exempt position.

Lead, train, and mentor the billing and operations team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Develop performance metrics and conduct regular performance evaluations for team members. Act as a liaison between clinical staff, administration, and external partners, ensuring effective communication and problem resolution. |
Supervise and manage the operational aspects of the clinical services department, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations. Collaborate with clinical leadership to streamline workflows, improve service delivery, and enhance operational efficiency. Implement and maintain effective scheduling, intake, and patient flow processes for clinical services. Oversee the coordination of resources, equipment, and staffing to support clinical operations. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and accreditation standards (e.g., CARF, HCBS).. |

Ensure clinical services adhere to all billing, coding, and documentation regulations, including HIPAA and payer-specific requirements. Conduct regular audits of clinical services and billing practices to identify areas for improvement. Work with clinical and administrative teams to ensure that clinical service quality standards are met and exceeded. Stay informed about changes in regulations and industry standards related to clinical billing and operational practices, and ensure the team is trained accordingly. |

Billing and Revenue Cycle Management |
Oversee all aspects of billing for clinical services, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims for OT, PT, SLP, ABA, counseling, evaluation, psychiatry, interventional psychiatry, and other relevant services. Monitor and manage accounts receivable, ensuring timely resolution of payment discrepancies and denials. Work closely with clinical teams to ensure proper documentation and coding standards are followed for billing purposes. Develop and implement billing policies and procedures that comply with healthcare regulations and industry standards. Analyze financial performance, including revenue trends, payer mix, and reimbursement rates, to identify opportunities for optimization. |

Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Management, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Directly relevant, year for year experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in healthcare operations management, preferably in a clinic setting. Strong understanding of Autism and Neurodevelopmental Assessments and Therapies, including OT, ABA, SLP, psychiatry, PT, and counseling. Experience in managing billing for multiple clinical disciplines, including OT, PT, SLP, counseling, psychiatry, and interventional psychiatry. Knowledge of relevant healthcare regulations, payer requirements, and industry standards, including CMS, HIPAA, and CARF/HCBS standards. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and lead a team effectively. Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, financial reporting, and performance metrics. Proficiency in billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
