GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Residence Manager reports directly to the House Manager. The Residence Manager has the responsibility to ensure the health and safety of the individuals, and the effective and efficient physical and social operation of the residence during their shift.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The following is a summary of the essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below, and essential functions may change from time to time.

  • Promote and adhere to all elements of the Agency’s CQL outcomes and Core Values and demonstrate knowledge and commitment to the Arc’s Mission.
  • Ensure protection from abuse, neglect, mistreatment and exploitation regarding the health, safety, comfort, and well-being of the people we support by adhering to all related policies.
  • Understand and follow agency and program policies and procedures. To act as a role model for the individuals and members of the community. To advocate for the individuals and their rights when appropriate and necessary.
  • Respect the individual’s right to privacy by the appropriate use of written and verbal information and follow all agency and OPWDD guidelines regarding confidentiality.
  • Assure the maintenance, housekeeping and food preparation duties of the residence in order to provide a clean, neat, healthy and safe environment. Provide oversight and guidance if necessary to the individuals in the completion of household tasks such as laundry, menu preparation, shopping, cooking, minor maintenance of the house and grounds with the goal of increasing independence.
  • Know the current Individualized Service Plan specific to each individual and follow through with the provision of services as outlined.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and other meetings as required to discuss and develop viable solutions to problems and needs concerning individuals, staff, and the day to day operation of the residence. Participate in all training as required.
  • Work with individuals on residential habilitation allowable services in accordance to established frequencies and adheres to documentation standards. Complete res hab daily checklist, res hab recording form and data sheet, and complete daily note. Implement provided services as outlined in the residential habilitation plan. Complete annual assessments as assigned. Monitor each individual’s social, medical, and financial well-being and report all concerns to the House Manager.
  • Assist the individuals in maintaining their personal hygiene including the purchase of hygiene supplies, and appropriate dress, when necessary. Assist the individuals in maintaining a safe and clean bedroom, if necessary. Assure that suitable leisure time activities are planned with and focused on the preference of the individual. Transport individuals going to appointments, i.e., medical, dental, etc. when needed. Assist and teach the individuals proper banking procedures and money management in order to maintain their personal finances.
  • Review the Daily Notes and House Log since their last shift. Complete or review incident reports and forward them to the House Manager within prescribed time frames. Assure that medication verification is completed per policy during their shift. Follow fiscal accountability procedures and maintain accurate financial records for each individual.
  • Ensure the arrangement of necessary health, medical and dental services including the scheduling of appointments for the individuals. Inform the Residential Services Registered Nurse and the House Manager of any medical changes, medication changes, injuries and symptoms demonstrated by an individual. Maintain copies and ensures documentation of medical information in the Clinical Record of each individual. Act as a liaison and advocate with physicians and other medical personnel and ensure that their instructions are clearly understood and followed. Administer medications and medical treatments as prescribed by a physician when necessary. Assure that each individual's dietary and nutritional plan is followed.
  • Assure that the rights of each individual in the program are upheld and report any violations to the Administrative Team. Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with the individuals, their families, friends, and neighbors. Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with day program, social and recreational agency staff in the community. Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of normalization and reflect this in program implementation. Adhere to all other agency policies and procedures.
  • Promote and adhere to all elements of the Agency’s Corporate Compliance and HIPAA policies.
  • Maintain and promote confidentiality in accordance with Agency policy.
  • Comply with all aspects of the Agency’s Safety Policy.
  • Serve on Agency committees as assigned.
  • Attend meetings as dictated by your job responsibilities and/or as assigned.
  • Attend and complete all mandatory training.
  • Adhere to scheduled hours and submit completed timesheets to supervisor on time each payroll period.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The following qualifications are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work independently and function as a team member with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules which may include evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting individuals.
  • Lifting and carrying items up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Education and Experience

Any combination equivalent to education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

  • Valid NYS Driver’s license, High School Diploma, Medication Certification, and Mandatory Training.
