What are the responsibilities and job description for the Events Assistant position at The Arc Otsego?
The Events Assistant at The Arc Otsego will support the planning, coordination, and execution of various community events and programs that serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and the greater community. This role involves working closely with the events team to handle logistics, manage registrations, coordinate with sponsors and volunteers, and ensure all participants have a positive and inclusive experience at organizational events.
II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - (includes the following. Other duties may be assigned)
1. Provide comprehensive support for The Arc Otsego's annual events, including fundraisers, social events, and employee engagement events. This includes assistance with all stages of event planning, promotion, implementation, and wrap up
2. Assist in the coordination, data support, and execution of monthly food drives
3. Lead and engage event volunteers effectively
4. Assist with job fair tabling and other outreach events
5. Act as a writer for the Agency, acting as creative content writer and editor for printed materials, internal communication and electronic material for public consumption.
6. Develops, monitors, edits and/or coordinates content for events for Agency websites, intranet, social media, and collateral materials.
7. Coordinate event logistics, including setup, organization, and breakdown with strong organizational skills and multitasking abilities
8. Promote the positive image of the Agency to employees. Assist management with internal and external communication needs around events
9. Maintain and build positive relationships with event sponsors
10. Work collaboratively with all agency leadership, including Board of Directors and Director and Executive Team Members.
11. Display a genuine commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities and focus on inclusion and equity for all.
12. This position requires a two week notice of voluntary resignation

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing or in a related field preferred; two years of experience in event planning; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

COMPUTER SKILLS
Must be knowledgeable about cloud-based software, Microsoft Office components including Word,
Office, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with Canva, data management, and photography preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid NYS driver’s license and an acceptable driving record. Successful completion of all
required agency training.

employees and the public, including tact to handle sensitive matters. Must be able to deal with

ENVIRONMENT
1. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is typical to that of an office setting, with the expectation of time spent on the manufacturing floor.
