Job Summary : The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. This is a hands on accounting job in a nonprofit where the controller is expected to not only oversee but work in the accounting system. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting abilities, advanced financial acumen, and a strategic mindset to drive the financial health of the organization.
Key Responsibilities :
Prepare and analyze financial statements, forecasts, and reports for senior management
Oversee payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes and participate in timeline processing.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations
Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including a staff of 2.
Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Develop, implement, and maintain internal financial controls and procedures.
Monitor and analyze financial performance, providing insights and recommendations to senior program management.
Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors.
Prepare and present financial reports to the executive director, the Treasurer and board of directors.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
Oversee and implement cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
Assist in the development and implementation of financial strategies to support nonprofit sustainability.
Lead, mentor, and develop finance team members.
Position Description
Financial Management and Reporting : Controller oversees the preparation and maintenance of accurate financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. They ensure these reports comply with accounting standards and regulations.
Budgeting and Forecasting : The Controller creates and manages the company's budget, working with other departments to develop realistic financial plans that align with organizational goals. They also forecast financial performance and identify potential risks or opportunities.
Cash Flow Management : The Controller monitors and balance cash flows, ensuring the company has sufficient funds to meet its obligations while optimizing investments.

Qualifications :
