First Look - Freelance Commerce Writer, Men’s Lifestyle:
The Arena Group is seeking a Freelance Commerce Writer to contribute to our daily commerce content across our portfolio of brands, focusing primarily on Men’s Journal. The ideal candidate will have experience in creating commerce content for a range of men’s lifestyle topics, including but not limited to style, outdoors, fitness, home and garden, DIY and more. Responsibilities will include pitching daily stories to the commerce editors, writing new stories and updating and optimizing evergreen content. The ideal candidate has experience writing commerce content in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, including news and trends pieces as well as long-form evergreen roundups.
This is a freelance position with competitive hourly rates commensurate with experience; our expected hourly pay rate range is $25 - 35 USD. Please note: Due to the volume of applications we receive, only applicants selected for consideration will be contacted.
What You’ll Do:
Pitch daily to the commerce editorial team
- Write 2-4 commerce stories a day with the ability to pivot quickly if a more pressing priority arises
- Monitor daily news cycle and flag commerce opportunities
- Update and optimize existing stories with fresh info to keep commerce content up-to-date and useful for readers
- Work closely with team members on tentpole events like Prime Day and Black Friday/Cyber Monday
Build articles in the CMS cleanly and with commerce best practices in mind
What You’ll Bring:
Experience writing high-quality commerce content that delivers service and value to readers
- Extensive experience creating deals content with a track record of driving revenue and audience engagement
- Knowledge of digital content best practices, like SEO, AP Style, and analytics
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to write fast, without compromising accuracy, brand integrity, or voice
- A sense of fun, urgency, and a can-do attitude; team work makes the dream work!
- A genuine passion for Men’s lifestyle topics: style, outdoors, fitness, home and garden, DIY content and more is a huge plus
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field
