The Arena Group is seeking a highly skilled Business Intelligence Analyst with a focus on Product and Editorial analytics. In this role, you will transform complex data into actionable insights that drive product enhancements and content strategy while working closely with our Identity Management, Product, Data Engineering & Editorial teams to ensure data integrity and compliance. The ideal candidate will be adept at integrating disparate data sources, building intuitive dashboards, and collaborating cross-functionally to support strategic decision-making.
The Arena Group’s expected annualized base salary range for this position is currently $200 - $275,000. Actual salaries will vary based on multiple factors including location, education, experience and other factors permitted by law. The listed salary range is but one component of The Arena Group’s total compensation and benefits available to its employees. What You’ll Do:
Product Analytics:
Data Integration & Analysis: Gather, clean (in partnership with Data Engineering), and analyze data from product usage, customer interactions, and feedback channels to support product enhancements and feature optimizations.
- Performance Metrics: Help define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for product usage, user engagement, and customer retention.
Reporting & Dashboards: Develop interactive dashboards and regular reports that highlight product performance, user behavior trends, and areas for improvement. More important is to enable (via data products) to enable key stakeholders to easily make their own custom reports.
Editorial Analytics & Strategy:
Content Performance: Track and analyze editorial metrics such as readership, time on page, bounce rates, and engagement to determine content effectiveness.
- Audience Segmentation: Use data to segment audiences and provide insights that inform personalized content strategies and optimized editorial calendars.
- Trend Analysis: Identify emerging trends and content performance patterns to advise editorial teams on topic selection, publishing schedules, and content formats.
Dashboard Creation: Design and maintain tailored dashboards for the editorial team, providing real-time insights into content performance and audience behavior.
Identity Data & Security Overlap:
Data Governance: Collaborate with the Identity Management team to ensure that user identity data is accurately captured, securely maintained, and complies with relevant data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Integrated Insights: Combine identity data with product and editorial analytics to deliver comprehensive views of user behavior, ensuring personalized experiences while safeguarding data privacy.
Anomaly Detection: Utilize BI tools to monitor user activity and detect any anomalies that might indicate potential security issues or data inconsistencies.
Strategic Collaboration & Communication:
Vendor Management: Product owner for all analytics platforms & products, including project management
- Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary data partner for Product, Editorial, and Identity teams, ensuring that insights are actionable and aligned with business goals.
- Ad Hoc Analysis: Provide on-demand analytical support for cross-departmental projects, strategic initiatives, and executive reporting.
Documentation & Training: Maintain clear documentation of methodologies, data sources, and analytics processes. Train team members on BI tools and best practices.
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).- 8 years of experience in a BI, data analytics, or related role, preferably within a digital publishing or technology-driven environment.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with data integration and ETL processes.
- Advanced experience with BI and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
- Ability to work cross-functionally with product managers, editorial, UX designers, and engineering teams to translate data insights into actionable product strategies & business outcomes.
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and modern data stack tools.
- Experience with identity management systems and data privacy standards is a plus.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a proven ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
