First Look- Weekend Commerce Editor
The Arena Group is seeking a Weekend Commerce Editor with a strong background in overall deals coverage to play a key role in executing our centralized commerce team’s content strategy across our portfolio of brands. These brands include TheStreet, Parade and Men’s Journal. The ideal candidate will have proven editorial experience in a range of lifestyle commerce topics, including style, fitness, home goods, beauty, consumer electronics, and more. Duties will include assigning and editing new content, updating and optimizing existing content, maintaining an edit calendar, and writing stories as necessary. The ideal candidate has experience editing and writing high-quality and authoritative commerce content, with a primary focus on deals. Must be willing to work nights and weekdays for key shopping tentpole events. This position reports to the Executive Editor, Commerce. Minimum availability required is from Wednesday through Sunday.
The Arena Group’s expected annualized base salary range for this position is currently $75,000 - $90,000. Actual salaries will vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to location, education, experience and other factors permitted by law. The listed salary range is but one component of The Arena Group’s total compensation and benefits available to its employees.

What You’ll Do
- Assign and edit commerce content across our brands, including timely deals posts, product news, evergreen roundups and single-product reviews that deliver trust-worthy recommendations for our audiences
- Monitor daily news and promotions and flag commerce opportunities
- Edit clear, compelling, voice-y and accurate stories on tight deadlines
- Use analytics & research tools such as Trackonomics, Google Analytics, Google Trends, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Parsley, etc. to monitor story and topic performance
- Update and optimize existing stories to make sure the content is recent, accurate, and delivering useful service to our readers
- Develop of roster of writers who can produce high-quality commerce stories across topics
- Write and build stories in the CMS as needed
What You’ll Bring
3-5 years’ experience working in a fast-paced digital environment with increasing editing/assigning responsibilities, ideally 2 years in the commerce space- Knowledge of digital content best practices, including SEO, AP Style, and data interpretation
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
- Collaborative and team-oriented
- Ability to write and edit fast, without compromising factual information or brand integrity
- A sense of fun, urgency, and a can-do attitude
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field
Must be located in the NYC-area preferred, with in-office work 3 days per week
