What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Manager position at The Armor Group?
JOB SUMMARY
The Mason Plant Manager oversees the daily operations of the Mason based location, including safety of employees, efficiency of production, costing of labor and materials, customer satisfaction, on-time deliveries, quality of work and other company objectives as necessary, in addition to all other tasks assigned by the VP of Operations - Mason.
Responsibilities include :
- Driving a safety first, high quality and on budget / on time delivery mind-set throughout the organization
- Collaborate with the Plant Leadership to develop and implement operational strategies and goals to ensure the efficient and cost-effective production of products.
- Manage production processes, identify bottlenecks, and propose solutions to optimize productivity and minimize downtime.
- Lead the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain consistent quality and safety standards.
- Promote a safe working environment by ensuring adherence to safety regulations, conducting regular safety inspections, and providing training on safe work practices.
- Manage and Lead Production Supervisors, Assistant Plant Manager, or other Plant Leadership, in motivating a diverse team of production personnel, including training, performance evaluations, and development plans.
- Manage staffing needs required for production, includes forecasting and communicating needs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as engineering, quality assurance, project managers, and maintenance, to identify opportunities for enhancing product quality, reducing costs, and improving overall plant efficiency with goal of improving productivity and margin
- Overseeing capacity planning for the control of planned outputs
- Creating best practices within all areas of functional responsibility
- Facilitate effective communication channels within the plant, ensuring information flow between different departments and shifts.
- Contribute to regular plant meetings, providing updates on production status, performance targets, and improvement initiatives.
- Prepare reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), production metrics, and operational efficiency for management review.
- Developing a qualified, well-trained and motivated staff
- Other duties as assigned

This position interacts with employees such as Project Managers, Customers, Vendors, Engineering Managers, Estimators, Sales, Production Control, HR Director, Division Presidents, Corporate President, CFO, COO, CEO and Manufacturing Supervisors, Engineers, and Personnel.
