What are the responsibilities and job description for the Art School Registration Assistant position at The Art League?
The Art League is a multi-faceted 501(c)(3) nonprofit visual arts organization. We comprise a large school, gallery, outreach programs, and an art supplies store.
The Art League needs a friendly, detail-oriented, self-starter to support the daily functions of our school office. This spans all aspects of student customer service and acting as a liaison between the school office and accounting department. Regular tasks include registering students for classes online and in person, answering phones, directing students, and maintaining the school’s web presence and administrative database. As variants of COVID-19 are still with us, a new candidate would need to be comfortable assisting instructors (in a socially distanced, masked arrangement, if again required in the future), and run Zoom classes, as needed, from our facilities. Occasional evening availability would be helpful to accommodate the teaching schedule. Experience with children and arts education, facility with numbers, multi-tasking, organization, would make an ideal candidate for this position. Strong interpersonal skills, experience in the visual arts, and a sense of humor would ensure a harmonious fit in our working environment. Possessing curiosity, patience, and an appreciation of the vast repertoire of human strangeness will guarantee that a career here is a rewarding experience.
The Art League has a variety of artistic programs and community engagement projects that draw support from the staff, sometimes on evenings or weekends. The set hours are 9:30 to 5:30 Monday through Friday with rotating Saturdays (generally one weekend per month per staff member). The pace of the office varies from helter-skelter to low key, depending on the time of year. Benefits are available.
