Vice President of Revenue

The Vice President of Revenue spearheads our initiatives to drive the company's market expansion and impact. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategies to boost revenue growth, improve customer acquisition and retention, and increase enterprise value. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the EVP of Revenue reports directly to the company President.

Structured as a remote full-time, salaried position. 

We have been a 100% remote company since the beginning!  This position is eligible to remote work from the following locations: USA.

The Details 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Company Strategy, Key Performance Indicators, and Performance Management

  • Acts as an integral member of the executive leadership team, contributing to strategic decisions, resource allocation, and investment priorities.
  • Provides leadership and strategic insights during AOEU’s annual planning process, helping define key metrics to measure goal achievement.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors key metrics for the sales, customer success and partnership functions, aligned with company goals and objectives.
  • Oversees the execution of growth function departmental plans, resources, systems, and reporting, ensuring alignment with both departmental and company-wide goals.
  • Regularly collaborates with department senior leaders to review KPIs and evaluate performance, supporting AOEU's go-to-market strategy

B2S (Business to School)  Sales and Account Management

  • Leads the development of sales strategies targeting state and regional education agencies, including government relations.
  • Builds, leads, and oversees the sales and customer success functions of the company, creating exposure to and business opportunities with prospects, customers, and partners.
  • Develops and mentors sales and customer success department managers and staff, assigns territories, provides messaging, and strategies, and sets quotas, 
  • Works closely with other AOEU divisions to foster collaborative relationships that enhance market positioning, drive growth in new, expansion, and renewal subscription sales, and ensure consistent customer retention.
  • Monitors and manages the performance of sales and customer success teams by conducting regular team meetings, and quarterly business reviews, and supporting the development of expertise in AOEU solutions.
  • Travel up to 50% is required for this position.

Financial Administration

  • Supports the financial management, policies, and fiscal accountability of the organization, working in close cooperation with the VP of Operations & Controller.
  • Works with the VP of Operations & Controller to develop, manage, and monitor budgets for the sales, customer success, and partnership functions.
  • Establishes a consistent framework and process to ensure accurate revenue forecasting at both the company and function levels.
  • Oversees the implementation of company-approved pricing to ensure accuracy in quoting, forecasting, and order booking.

  • Industry expert: Familiarity with state and federal K-12 policies, funding sources and procurement practice is essential for this role. Be highly skilled in identifying and engaging with key industry stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Analytical: The ability to assess business and customer needs, and translate them into practical, actionable solutions is essential. The EVP of Revenue at AOEU should make decisions based on a strong understanding of the market,  and best practices, balancing the drive for short-term results with the patience required for innovations and ideas to fully develop..
  • Process-oriented and organized: Establish and model an effective sales process tailored to the needs of key buyer personas and AOEU solutions. The ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and stay organized to achieve desired outcomes is essential.
  • Accountable: Take full ownership of sales performance, consistently working to achieve or exceed company goals. This leader should concentrate on controllable factors and set an example for their team by demonstrating this mindset. Cultivate a culture of accountability within the Growth team.
  • Collaboratively decisive: Consistent, thoughtful, and effective decision-making is a key competency for this role at AOEU. Be highly collaborative and transparent, comfortable sharing insights into sales strategies, opportunities, and challenges, while actively seeking the support of colleagues and partners.

Position Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution; Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience

  • Extensive (5 years) professional experience in senior, growth leadership (sales and customer success) roles, particularly within high-growth SaaS companies.
  • Experience in B2S sales, including working with state, regional, and local education agencies.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing sales and customer success teams to consistently meet or exceed revenue targets and forecasts.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to view computer screens for significant periods of time. The Art of Education University is an online university therefore 95-98% of one’s time will be on or using technology.
  • Ability to use a laptop keyboard with accuracy.
  • Ability to hear at normal levels and through electronic devices such as laptops, earbuds, phones, and the like.

COMPENSATION

Compensation is commensurate with experience and market. We encourage you to discuss your compensation requirements early in the process. 

The Process

For most roles, the process is as follows: 

  • Step 1: ~30-minute phone interview with hiring manager
  • Step 2: Round 2 packet & Interview
    • Given that AOEU is 100% remote, this step is intended to see how you might work through some of the daily tasks, responsibilities, and challenges that could arise in this role. You will be given a prompt and be asked to complete an assignment which will then be used to guide a ~1 hour follow-up Zoom interview with 1-2 stakeholders. The intention is for you to get a sense of the role and give us an opportunity to see your skills in action. Your answers will not be used for any other purposes beyond evaluating your candidacy.
  • Step 3: Follow-up interview
    • For certain managerial or high-collaboration roles, you may be asked to participate in an additional Zoom interview.
