Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting optometrists in providing high-quality eye care services. This position requires a blend of technical skills, customer service, and knowledge of medical procedures related to ophthalmology. The Optometric Technician will assist in patient care, perform various tests, and ensure the smooth operation of the optometry office.

Duties

  • Assist optometrists during eye examinations by preparing patients and equipment.
  • Conduct preliminary tests such as measuring visual acuity, taking vital signs, and performing ocular assessments.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient visit.
  • Educate patients on proper contact lens care and eyewear options.
  • Handle medical billing processes and ensure accurate coding for insurance claims.
  • Manage inventory of optical supplies and equipment maintenance.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries and concerns.
  • Collaborate with the optometry team to enhance patient experience and office efficiency.

Skills

  • Proficiency in medical terminology related to eye care and ophthalmology.
  • Familiarity with retail math for managing sales transactions effectively.
  • Experience with medical billing procedures and insurance claims processing.
  • Ability to take vital signs accurately and understand their significance in eye health.
  • Knowledge of maintaining medical records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy as it relates to the visual system.
  • Experience working in a medical office setting, particularly within an optometry practice.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
