- Grain Procurement:
- Build and maintain relationships with farmers, elevators, and other suppliers.
- Assist in purchasing grain at competitive prices while ensuring quality standards are met.
- Market Analysis:
- Monitor market trends, pricing, and supply/demand dynamics.
- Provide data and insights to support trading strategies and decision-making.
- Sales Support:
- Collaborate with senior merchandisers to identify sales opportunities and develop marketing strategies.
- Support the negotiation and execution of grain sales contracts.
- Logistics Coordination:
- Coordinate the transportation of grain to ensure timely delivery to customers.
- Work with logistics teams to optimize shipping schedules and reduce costs.
- Recordkeeping and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of transactions, contracts, and inventory levels.
- Prepare reports on trading activities, market performance, and profitability.
- Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service to suppliers and buyers, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, agribusiness, economics, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to market changes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with grain merchandising software is a plus.
- A strong interest in agriculture, commodities, and trading.
- Internship or prior experience in grain merchandising, trading, or related fields.
- Knowledge of agricultural markets, grain quality standards, and transportation logistics.
- Strong negotiation skills.
