We currently operate 9 cannabis retail and 2 lounge locations throughout California and are opening additional locations in 2024. The Artist Tree was the first recreational cannabis store to open in Fresno, West Hollywood, Oxnard, Riverside County, El Sobrante, Los Angeles (Phase 2) and our new location in Laguna Woods and Hawthorne. Each location functions as a hybrid between an art gallery and cannabis boutique, featuring exhibits from local artists. The Artist Tree not only invests in our stores and team members, but also in local communities through frequent charitable campaigns and by hosting community events.

Position Summary

The General Manager is a reference point for the sales team and works alongside them in order to increase the store’s sales, profitability and operational compliance. The General Manager is the first to provide excellent customer service and lead their team by example. In addition, this person handles the supervision of the store, store team, the functional organization of the store and the analysis of sales data to be able to make effective decisions and hit established goals. Thanks to his or her charisma, the General Manager motivates and trains the group, thus leading the store to success.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Development of business driving initiatives with the VP that build a repeat business or that attracts a new customer.
  • Communicate and achieve store productivity targets/KPI’s
  • Ensure all associates and leadership complete all training program and develops strong product knowledge across all product categories.
  • Model and supervise the selling environment, provide consistent coaching on sales training process in order to ensure the highest level of customer service and sales.
  • Hire, train and motivate a qualified sales team that effectively represents and communicates The Artist Tree brand to our customers.
  • Provide specific development for all store management and store supervisors by assigning responsibilities and training with consistent follow-up and feedback. Network and create positive relationships in the community that result in business generation, awareness of The Artist Tree brand and builds a bench strength of qualified candidates to fill key open positions.
  • Ensure store merchandising, cleaning and safety standards are implemented efficiently as per direction and visual standards are maintained at all times.
  • Communicate to VP customer feedback and product issues or needs in order to improve customer service and sales.
  • Perform and supervise store opening and closing procedures including counting register funds, completing bank deposits, cash drops, opening and closing registers and securing facility.
  • Conduct regular store meetings with AM to ensure accurate and consistent communication with employees.
  • Maintain payroll budget and weekly hours to ensure appropriate sales floor coverage by creating store schedules two weeks in advance and adjusting as necessary to meet the needs of the business.
  • Supervise operational audits and responsibilities to ensure the timely and accurate processing of all transfers, damages, shipping and receiving in order to maintain the integrity of the inventory.
  • Oversee loss prevention policies and procedure to be 100% compliant.
  • Works with VP on performance coaching, documentation and terminations
  • Maintains financial records: drops, invoices, expenses, payroll
  • Operates within all assigned budget parameters, guidelines and goals
  • Works directly with BOH Manager to ensure best practices are being followed
  • Timesheet and payroll management for all store departments
  • Manages Repairs and Maintenance needs of store location
  • Perform other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by AM.

Three to five plus years of experience as a store or general manager. Basic knowledge of state and local compliance laws preferred.

Skills/Abilities/Other Requirements: Must be 21 or older. English speaking or bilingual. Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations. Ability to lead, prioritize, organize and make good judgments. Well versed in communicating effectively and concisely. Dependable. Reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements: Standing and walking for long periods of time. Repetitive bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting and carrying. Reaching above, at and below shoulder level. Lifting and carrying unassisted up to 30 lbs. of bulk goods. Exposure to cleaning agents.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
