The Arts & College Preparatory Academy (ACPA) is an arts focused, independent community school on the east side of Columbus that serves a diverse population of students in grades 7 through 12 from over 25 different districts in central Ohio. ACPA is in its twentieth year of operation and has consistently been one of the highest performing charter schools in Ohio.
ACPA is seeking qualified candidates for an Instructional Aide position for the 2024-2025 school year. The Instructional Aide will report to the School Principals and the Diverse Learner Program Coordinator, and be highly collaborative with the counseling team, classroom teachers, school social workers, and other members of the student support staff. The Instructional Aide is a crucial position in many areas of student success - academics, social/emotional learning and overall continual growth. The Instructional Aide will also be expected to reflect the mission, vision and ACPA values of kindness, respect for diversity, honesty, problem solving, communication, participation and awareness in all interactions.
Responsibilities:
Instructional
- Instructional Aides are responsible for supporting and reinforcing classroom teachers’ creative and rigorous subject specific curriculum and daily lessons.
- Assist teachers in daily classroom management and instruction.
- Lead individual and small group instruction and remediation.
- Supervise independent learning and provide one-on-one instructional support as necessary.
- Assist instructional personnel in the implementation of individual educational plans (IEP’s) for students.
- Provide intervention to individuals and small groups of students to reinforce and follow up learning activities.
- During assigned classes, duties, or when assigned emergency coverage, Instructional Aides are expected to actively supervise students to ensure the emotional, mental and physical safety of students under their supervision.
- Instructional Aides may be asked to cover classes when last minute teacher absences have no outside coverage.

- Instructional Aides support a classroom environment of creativity, safety, inclusion, acceptance, and anti-bullying and exemplify the ACPA values within the building.
- Instructional Aides hold students accountable to school policies and norms through implementation of restorative justice practices and collaboration with the administrative team to help improve student engagement, attitudes and behavior.
Professional
- Fulfillment of an assigned supervision duty (either morning bus, lunchroom or afternoon bus).
- Attendance and participation in scheduled professional development in-service days, and scheduled after school staff and committee meetings every Monday.
- Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians concerning grades, discipline, and other student or school related concerns.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree
- Ohio Substitute License or Paraprofessional License
- Experience working in a school or with school-aged children, previous aide/paraprofessional experience a plus
- Desire to work in an arts focused and progressive school environment
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary starting at $32,000, commensurate with experience & education
