The Asia Group is now accepting applications for a full-time Associate to join our Washington, D.C. office. This Associate will support the Southeast Asia Practice.

The Asia Group’s Southeast Asia Practice is seeking a highly motivated individual to support client servicing, research, and analysis efforts at the Associate level. This individual will work with members of the Washington-based Southeast Asia Practice to craft in-depth memoranda, develop actionable insights, deliver analytical briefings to clients and senior TAG staff, and provide logistical support in advance of and during travel to Southeast Asia by clients and senior TAG staff.
Applicants must possess a master’s degree in international relations, political science, or business administration. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree only but with significant relevant work experience will also be considered. Ideal candidates should possess a strong understanding of the Maritime Southeast Asia’s political, economic, and business landscapes. They should also be familiar with broader regional dynamics, including the effects of U.S. policy on Southeast Asia, and be eager to work with other country practices on crosscutting deliverables.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Southeast Asia Practice in servicing clients by developing, crafting, and deploying high value-add deliverables such as memoranda, slide decks, and oral briefings
- Conducting timely market, industry, and political research and analysis
- Coordinating with client POCs to schedule meetings, deliver insights, and provide other forms of support
- Contributing insights to multi-market reports and client memoranda
- Tracking market, industry, and political developments impacting client equities
- Providing logistical, travel, and event support for client engagements, as well as travel support for senior TAG staff
- Participating in events on TAG’s behalf with industry associations, think tanks, and similar institutions.
Required experience and qualifications:
- A master’s degree in international relations, political science, or business administration or equivalent work experience focused on the politics, business affairs, and/or economic dynamics of Southeast Asia
- At least two years of work experience, preferably including in a client-servicing industry, government relations, or government experience
- High-level English (business) writing ability as well as strong research and editing skills
- Professional proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia. Must be able to conduct research on primary Indonesian sources, including government reports, legislation, industry reports, and news articles.
- Knowledge of U.S. political dynamics and policies with implications for Southeast Asia and the broader region.
- Strong familiarity with the broader Southeast Asia market and related geopolitics
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with multiple tight deadlines
- Positive, professional attitude with a willingness to work hard and be a team player.
- Openness to tackle new topics and projects outside one’s comfort zone
- Strong attention to detail
- Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite
Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States and are expected to work in-person at the TAG DC office five days per week. For this role, TAG offers a salary of $68,000 – $92,000 per year, based on experience and education.
