The Asia Group, LLC is seeking a highly entrepreneurial and organized individual for a Senior Associate position in our Washington, D.C. office.
The Asia Group (TAG) is a leading strategic advisory firm that positions clients – ranging from Fortune 100 multinationals to innovative startups – for success across the Indo-Pacific region. The Senior Associate will join a new team focused on supporting TAG’s energy and sustainability clients at the nexus of public policy and business in the Indo-Pacific. Reporting to the Managing Principal, the Senior Associate will have responsibilities related to business development and client servicing of firms in new, renewable, and traditional energy sectors, critical mineral and batteries, and corporate decarbonization.
A competitive candidate will have a strong foundation and experience in energy sector issues and analyzing related policy trends and stakeholders in the Indo-Pacific region. Excellent research and writing skills are a prerequisite. A demonstrated ability to manage prioritized taskings, engage clients with poise and clarity, and work proactively and collaboratively across country- and region-focused teams are expected. Title and pay will be commensurate with experience levels.
Responsibilities Include:
- Collaborate with TAG country and client teams to develop and support policy-driven strategies for stakeholder engagement, market entry/expansion, and policy advocacy that advance clients’ business objectives in the region;
- Conduct research and draft memos, reports, presentations, and briefing materials for external (client) and internal (TAG) consumers related to energy and sustainability issues trends across the region;
- Provide project management leadership, including product development and deliverable tracking;
- Contribute to TAG business development objectives, including identifying opportunities, developing proposals, and conducting outreach; and, Contribute original research and thought leadership innovations on issues related to energy and sustainability in the Indo-Pacific.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- MA or equivalent academic/practical experience related to energy, sustainability, commercial, and economic policy issues in Asia;
- Outstanding research and writing skills;
- Analytical economic and political expertise in Indo-Pacific markets;
- Self-starter and ability to excel in a fast-paced environment;
- Strong attention to detail and deadlines;
- Can-do attitude and willingness to provide strong support on both critical client matters and internal team efforts;
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) demonstrated by the ability to present in a crisp, polished, and effective manner to senior officials and business leaders and the ability to write in a clear, direct, concise, and nuanced manner; and, Strong grasp of business strategy and commercial trends, especially in the Indo-Pacific region.
Desired Qualifications:
- 4-7 years of work experience;
- Demonstrated expertise and/or on the ground experience in one or more of the following markets: Japan, Korea, Taiwan, India, Indonesia, Vietnam;
- Existing and expanding networks in business and government; and, Working proficiency in a language other than English that is prevalent in the Indo-Pacific region.
Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States and are expected to work in-person at the TAG DC office five days per week. TAG provides competitive benefits, including premium health insurance, generous paid time off, 401(k) matching, and commuter allowances, with regular training opportunities available to its employees.
