Location : Village of River Oaks, an Independent and Assisted Living with Memory Care senior community
Prepare and cook a variety of meals, including soups, meats, gravies, vegetables, desserts, salads, and baked goods, using fresh, canned, dry, or frozen ingredients.
Adhere to residents' special dietary needs and restrictions.
Ensure all food items meet guidelines for temperature, taste, and quality by monitoring and taste-testing.
Use various utensils and grillers to cook food, checking and stirring or turning as needed.
Dress dishes for a great presentation before serving.
Maintain a sanitized and orderly kitchen environment; ensure all equipment is cleaned, functioning properly, and turned off before closing.
Store all food and items correctly to maintain freshness and safety.
Check and ensure the quality of ingredients.
Monitor stock levels and, with supervisor's approval, place orders for shortages.
Follow nutrition and sanitation guidelines, including governmental and company policies, ensuring proper documentation.
Assist in training and orienting new kitchen staff.
Maintain high standards of appearance, cleanliness, and personal hygiene.
Attend all required in-service training sessions.
Be an active member of the community's emergency response team.
Maintain a professional appearance and good personal hygiene as per company policies.
Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED; training from a culinary school is a plus.
Must obtain an accredited food handler certification within 60 days, as per State guidelines.
6 months to 1 year of proven experience as a cook.
Experience using cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware.
Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.).
Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
Team player with effective oral and written communication skills.
