SUMMARY: The Noah’s Ark Camp Director of the Stoler Early Learning Center is a seasonal leadership role responsible for overseeing the transition of the Stoler Early Learning Center into Noah’s Ark Camp between June and August, ensuring the smooth operation and program continuity. The Noah’s Ark Director will demonstrate leadership, organizational skills, and a passion for fostering a safe, enriching, and inclusive summer camp experience that is rooted in Jewish values and traditions.   WHAT YOU WILL DO:  Specific duties include but are not limited to:   Program Management and Communication: Oversee the transition of the Stoler Early Learning Center to Noah’s Ark Camp between June and August, ensuring smooth operations and program continuity. Implement the preplanned summer event calendar. Execute the daily summer schedule, including weekly themes, special events, and camper activities. Collaborate with the Senior Director and leadership team to evaluate and adjust programming based on camper and staff feedback to ensure a high-quality camp experience for all. Maintain ongoing communication with parents regarding camper progress, schedules, and any camp-related updates. Serve as the primary point of contact for all parents, campers, and staff, ensuring all parties are well-supported and informed.   Staff Management: Oversee the final hiring, onboarding, orientation, and training of summer staff, ensuring all new hires understand camp policies, safety procedures, and child development strategies. Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to camp staff, helping them create and implement an engaging and safe experience for campers. Lead staff orientation sessions and provide ongoing professional development to ensure a positive and cohesive camp environment. Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure all staff members understand and uphold the program’s mission, values, and goals. Responsible for providing ongoing communication with the Aquatics department of the JCC and other camp Specialists hired.   Operations and Budget Management: Manage the budget for Noah’s Ark Camp, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and within financial guidelines.   Community and Relationship Building: Serve as the primary ambassador for Noah’s Ark Camp, fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and positive environment for families, staff, and the community. Actively engage with the year-round J Camps team, contributing to the broader program goals and initiatives.   End-of-Season Responsibilities & Future Planning Wrap-up camp by thanking families, campers, and staff with an end-of-season communication. Gather feedback through surveys or meetings to inform next year’s planning. Work with leadership to discuss hiring needs, program adjustments, and operational improvements. Create a transition plan or checklist for the next Camp Director (if applicable). Inventory and organize all camp supplies, returning or storing materials as needed. Assess equipment and facilities, noting any repairs or replacements needed for next season. Collect and review all program documentation, schedules, and lesson plans for future planning. Reconcile and submit all budgetary and financial records, including receipts and payroll documentation. Ensure all outstanding payments, reimbursements, and vendor contracts are completed.   WHO YOU ARE: Bachelor’s degree in one of the following or related fields preferred: Early Childhood Education, Curriculum Development, Special Education, Psychology, Family Studies, or related field. Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with young children in an educational or similar environment. Strong understanding of child development and best practices in early childhood education. In-depth knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices including play-based and child-centered learning.    Knowledge and understanding of behavior management and effective teaching techniques.  Proven leadership abilities, with experience coaching and supporting educators.  Familiarity with Jewish cultures and customs and/or a willingness to learn. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and staff. Possess strong organizational skills with the ability to muti-task and prioritize multiple projects and initiatives. Proficiency with technology, including computers, i-Pads, our Parent Portal (Brightwheel App), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Zoom, PowerPoint), Zoom, cameras, and other apps and platforms. Must be CPR and First Aid certified or have the ability to obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification within three months of employment. Medical administration certification is also required.   PHYSICAL SKILLS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is typically loud and fast paced.  This position requires high energy and positive interactions with staff, parents, members, other agency employees, community leaders, and outside partners, vendors, and others. The role involves frequent use of a phone and computer, as well as physical activities such as reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.  The employee must have the ability to lift, carry, and/or move children or other objects up to 50 pounds and engage with children by sitting on the floor.  This role requires spending extended periods outdoors, on your feet, each day in a variety of weather conditions.  Must have the ability to move quickly across the campus to address emergency situations.   COMMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Salary (or Salary Range): $8,000 - $10,000 Benefit & Perks: The JCC offers a complimentary summer family membership to the JCC as well as discounts on summer camp programs.
