In a complex and complicated world, where confronting existential crises like the climate alongside communal crisis within the Jewish world, and Adamah operates in a unique space in Jewish life that combines both universal and particularistic values. To speak to the experience of building Jewish joy, connecting to NY Jewish life, and feeling part of a broader community and the neighborhoods in which we live, Adamah NY will hold a large-scale community event, that will bring to a deep, broad sense of Joyful Judaism. It will revolve around volunteering in parks and nature reserves while emphasizing Adamah’s core values of nature connection, community, hope, Jewish wisdom, peoplehood & planethood. The event that will mobilize large parts of the Jewish community and will involve over 1000 volunteers in several parks and nature reserves. Activities will include park or beach clean ups, trash removal, planting, painting fences & signs, prepping garden beds, and more.
The event will be done in collaboration with many local and national organizations, Jewish and non-Jewish alike, and will take place in multiple locations simultaneously. It will involve tens of Jewish environmental educators, Adamah staff members, temp staff and volunteers.
Project Scope and Responsibilities
The Day of Joy and Service will mobilize over 1,000 volunteers across several parks and nature reserves. This initiative will promote Jewish environmental values, community-building, and joyful action while strengthening Adamah’s partnerships and visibility.
We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic consultant to develop, lead and coordinate a large-scale Volunteer Day/Days event with 1000 participants in NY during the fall of 2025 (there’s a possibility that this would be a multi-day event). This is a contract role requiring a professional with significant event management and volunteer coordination experience. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with a background in successfully managing events, particularly in community settings. Experience with Jewish community events or organizations is a plus.
Project Goals:
Mobilize 1,000 volunteers across multiple locations.
Inspire joyful Jewish community engagement rooted in environmental stewardship.
Build and strengthen organizational partnerships.
Promote Adamah’s brand and mission.
Scope of Work:
Lead planning and logistics for the event across several NY Metro locations.
Develop timelines, schedules, and budgets.
Recruit, train, and manage volunteers and staff.
Coordinate with partner organizations and educators.
Promote the event in collaboration with Adamah’s Marketing and Communications (MarCom) team.
Ensure successful on-the-ground execution, including risk and crisis management.
