The Associated Press seeks an experienced newsroom manager to transform AP's video presence across site and social platforms. We're looking for a skilled editor with a deep understanding of how video is produced and optimized across the digital landscape, with a particular focus on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and APNews.com. This position is based in New York or Washington, D.C. and reports to the vice president of news for digital platforms.
Responsibilities :
In this role, you will manage a global team of video producers and curation editors responsible for the social video, livestreams and horizontal video programming you see across AP's site and social channels. Each day, you'll establish story priorities, delegate assignments and review video scripts and edits prior to publishing. You'll also craft data-informed strategies to grow our audiences across platforms and use those insights to inform the broader newsroom on video best practices.
We are looking for someone who :
- Has extensive knowledge of the video production process across our key formats (vertical video, live video and horizontal video). Your producing and editing abilities are top-notch, and you also understand the importance of packaging and optimizing video for specific platforms.
- Coordinates video coverage for major events. Politics and world news are central to our journalism, so guiding your team during breaking news is crucial. Additionally, you'll brainstorm video opportunities ahead of high-profile events like the Super Bowl and the Oscars.
- Can coach journalists from a variety of backgrounds and skill sets. While your primary focus is managing and mentoring your team, you'll also train AP staff around the world on the latest video storytelling methods.
- Closely tracks the evolving media landscape. We want someone who can explore opportunities around monetization and emerging technologies like AI as video consumption continues to grow.
- Excels at translating and presenting video insights to a variety of stakeholders. Our product, revenue and technology teams will serve as key partners, in addition to other newsroom teams.
- Pursues innovative and inclusive coverage while maintaining AP's standards for integrity and objectivity.

Salary & Benefits
The anticipated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $130,000, contingent on experience and other job-related factors. Employees are eligible to participate, according to the terms of the official plan documents, in a 401(k) plan, employer-sponsored health insurance plan, and are eligible for paid time off and holidays in accordance with AP policy.
