The Jewish Museum of Maryland is America’s leading museum of regional Jewish history, culture and community. The Museum tells the story of the American Jewish experience in the city of Baltimore and throughout Maryland. Our Museum offers visitors fascinating and diverse exhibitions, as well as, two landmark historic sites – the Lloyd Street Synagogue, built in 1845 and B’nai Israel Synagogue, built in 1876.

Jewish Museum of Maryland (JMM)

The Jewish Museum of Maryland (JMM) seeks a Production Studio Technician to support the organization as it prepares to launch a new A / V production studio following capital construction. The Production Studio Technician will be pivotal in the recording and creation of asynchronous content and programming. Reporting to the Director of Public Programs, they will work cross-departmentally, supporting JMM staff in the development of rich content that uplifts the Jewish experience in Maryland. In this role, with the support of the Executive Director, the Culture & Change Director and Director of Public Programs, your responsibilities will include :

Manage video production and audio engineering for museum programmatic offerings, including but not limited to public programs, podcasts, and documentation of live programs. Some projects may also require off-site work.
Collaborate cross-departmentally to support initiatives utilizing the A / V production studio, including recording oral histories for JMM collections and creating engaging, dynamic content that resonates with the organization's audiences. Provide technical support for production studio rental services.
Conceptualize and develop innovative asynchronous content strategies.
Collaborate with the exhibits, marketing, development, and public arts teams to develop and enhance A / V content connected to their work.
Cultivate relationships with external users of the production studio, including rental users, museum visitors, students, and program participants.
With support from the Director of Public Programs, manage the A / V Production Studio Department budget and track expenses.
Support the organization and preservation of digital assets.
May assist with live sound at Museum programs and events as needed.
Stay up to date with trends and best practices, continually seeking opportunities for improvement and innovation.

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor's degree preferred; 3 years experience in a similar role required with proven track record in audio-visual editing and production.

Expertise in current A / V software and equipment, including Adobe Creative Suite (Audition, Premier).

Exceptional creative vision and narrative skills.

Demonstrated strong media project management skills.

Knowledge of Jewish communal sector is a plus. Experience in cultural heritage is a plus.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Canva.

May require occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.

Requires extensive sitting, standing, and walking.

Must be willing to complete background checks as required by current or future contracts.

Occasional Sunday and evening hours are required for this position.

What we offer

The annual salary for this full-time position is $50,000.

Jewish Museum of Maryland full-time employees work a 30-hour week. Work schedules are developed in collaboration with supervisors within the Museum’s business hours.

We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, life insurance, Long Term Disability (LTD), Flexible Spending Plan, and a complimentary membership to the Jewish Community Center.

We make work / life balance a priority offering three weeks of vacation and 6 days of sick time per year.

We close the Museum for the following Jewish holidays when they fall within JMM business hours : Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, the first two days of Sukkot, Shemini Atzeret, Simchat Torah, Shavuot, and the first and last two days of Passover.

We close the Museum for New Years Day, MLK Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and the day following Thanksgiving.
