Job Title: Afterschool Program Instructor
Job Type: Part-Time
Pay Range: $16.00 – $18.00 per hour
Work Location: In-person
Basic Function
Under the general direction of the Site Coordinator and Site Supervisor, the Afterschool Program Instructor supports the development and implementation of afterschool and extended learning activities. Responsibilities include facilitating academic support, enrichment, and recreational activities, as well as ensuring student safety and engagement.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and delivering academic, enrichment, health, and recreational activities.
- Tutor students in core subjects such as reading, writing, and math.
- Support positive student behavior and discipline, acting as a role model.
- Mentor students through a variety of learning and life experiences.
- Help maintain a safe, healthy, and inclusive learning environment.
- Assist with student recruitment and enrollment for afterschool programs.
- Encourage active participation from students, school staff, volunteers, and families.
- Collect and maintain student participation and achievement data for program evaluation.
- Participate in staff training and ongoing professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor or Site Coordinator.
Knowledge Of
- Student supervision techniques and behavior management strategies.
- Cultural and physical needs of diverse student populations.
- Basic computer and technology tools.
- English usage, spelling, grammar, and writing skills.
Ability To
- Work effectively with students of varying ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
- Establish positive working relationships with school and program personnel.
- Learn and apply basic first aid and safety practices.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Follow directions and adhere to program policies and procedures.
- Supervise children and assist with classroom responsibilities.
- Resolve problems and manage conflict in a constructive manner.
- Communicate professionally with parents and families.
- Collaborate as a team member with other departments and staff.
- Be available to work morning and/or afternoon program hours.
Schedule
- Afternoon Hours: After school until 6:00 PM
- Possible Morning Hours: 6:45 AM – 8:45 AM
- Days: Monday through Friday
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
Preferred Experience:
- At least 1 year of experience working with school-age students.
