The NICU Director Level III RN is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the operations and clinical practice of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at a leading healthcare facility in Austin, TX.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the NICU, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Develop and implement evidence-based protocols and policies for neonatal care.
  • Monitor patient care outcomes and implement strategies for quality improvement.
  • Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate comprehensive patient management.
  • Ensure effective communication with families, providing support and education.
  • Participate in budget planning and resource allocation for the NICU.
  • Evaluate and address staffing needs to meet patient care demands.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities.
  • Stay updated on advancements in neonatal care and integrate best practices.
  • Manage and resolve conflicts or concerns within the NICU team.
  • Lead quality assurance initiatives and patient safety programs.
  • Establish partnerships with external organizations for collaborative care initiatives.
  • Engage in research activities to enhance clinical practices within the unit.
  • Act as a liaison between the NICU and other hospital departments.

Required Qualifications

  • Current RN licensure in the state of Texas.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in neonatal intensive care nursing.
  • Previous leadership or management experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Certification in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (RNC-NIC) or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and standards for NICUs.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement clinical protocols.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of electronic health records and healthcare software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and education.
  • Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
