Interface with the Sr. Director of QA/Safety regarding Austin safety program and enforce our safety culture. Verify Austin safety program is being implemented on their project. Develop site specific safety manuals for new project. Review new or revised OSHA regulations to see if revisions to Austin safety program are required. Verify OSHA state programs are identified in the required Austin site specific safety manual. Verify that each subcontractor has submitted a site-specific safety plan/manual for the work they will be performing. Reviews and enforces OSHA safety regulations and standards. Provides technical guidance and training (OSHA 10/30 and regulatory changes to their project team. Provide Corporate Director of QA/Safety with required regional project safety updates i.e. project hours, inspections completed. Investigate complex accidents or where two (2) or more employees were injured doing the same task. Visit all regional projects on a periodic basis based on the complexity of the project. Generate a comprehensive safety report to all corporate managers, regional managers and the project team for all acceptable and unacceptable observed. Follow-up on all unacceptable items.

The hiring/salary range for this position in California is $115,000 - $170,000 per year. Please note that this is a just a suggested framework and salaries could fall outside of this. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience amongst other factors.

Requirements
- 4-year degree in Safety, Construction or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10 years of related work experience in the field of Health and Safety, including experience in a leadership role.
- Maintain a current OSHA 500.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Incumbent must have extensive knowledge of Federal and state health and safety OSHA regulations, as well as required reporting procedures.
- A thorough understanding of construction materials, construction practices and The Austin Method® is essential for this position.
- Must be able to travel to and work at the project site, this travel may be up to 100%

- The Regional Safety Director shall notify Senior Director of QA/Safety and HR of any disabilities that would keep them from performing essential job functions prior to performing
- Interface with management to communicate, implement and enforce Austin health and safety programs for all projects. Train our-site safety personnel how to enforce our H&S programs.
- Conducts project safety audits. Reviews and analyzes project safety records, conducts on-site inspections, and evaluates program effectiveness. Generate required reports to document project safety status. Conduct follow-up inspections for all open items.
- Reviews contractors safety performance history (EMR and safety “Case Report” studies).
- Participates in contractor kick-off meetings / pre-job conferences to present Austin’s’ safety and health policy and explain how we implement safety on the project (everyone goes through safety orientation prior to going to work, every sub must always have 2 competent safety employees on a project).
- Reviews subcontractor project insurance certificate.
- Coordinate with Senor Director of QA/Safety for any project citations from any state or Federal regulatory agency.
- Assists in coordinating medical care of employees injured at company facilities.
- May be asked to represent the company at national conferences.
