About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Data Visualization Specialist with a proven background in transforming large-scale biomedical datasets into actionable, interactive dashboards and decision support tools. This role plays a key part in building user-friendly, high-impact visualizations for VA researchers and clinicians, enabling insight into EHR-derived phenotypes, patient histories, and genomic relationships. The ideal candidate will bring advanced skills in visualization software, user interface design, and cross-platform data integration to support the development, deployment, and refinement of clinical dashboard solutions that align with VA research and clinical priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop interactive dashboards for clinical and research use.
- Translate large-scale EHR and biomedical datasets into clear visual formats.
- Implement visualization tools that support data exploration, cohort selection, and phenotype review.
- Collaborate with programmers and researchers to ensure data accuracy and alignment with user needs.
- Incorporate narrative concepts and genomic data into visual tools and dashboards.
- Optimize visual performance across VA systems using scalable, responsive design.
- Maintain and update visualization tools based on user feedback and new feature requests.
- Support documentation of visualization workflows and usage instructions.
- Assist in interface development for clinical dashboards and test case reviews.
- Ensure tools are accessible, user-friendly, and aligned with VA standards.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Informatics, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in clinical or biomedical data visualization
- Proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, R Shiny, or Python Dash
- Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and user-centered design
- Working knowledge of JavaScript for front-end enhancements
- Experience integrating data from multiple sources, including SQL and cloud platforms
- Ability to translate complex data into intuitive, user-friendly visual outputs
