What are the responsibilities and job description for the Systems Technician position at The Aviation Authority-Tampa International Airport?
POSITION SUMMARY
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in the operation and maintenance of specialized automated airport equipment such as baggage conveyors, passenger boarding bridges, 400 hz ground power units and other electro-mechanical systems that are specific to an airports operation. This is a highly skilled technical position responsible for the preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of all essential equipment supporting Tampa International Airport's passenger boarding bridge, and baggage handling system operations Incumbents in this position will be required to work nights, weekends, and / or holidays.
POSITION ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on automated equipment such as : baggage conveyors and associated equipment, Passenger Boarding Bridges, 400 Hz Ground Power Units, Roll-up doors for security and fire protection and lighting.
- Perform advanced replacement, set-up, and troubleshooting of electrical / mechanical equipment components including but not limited to, hydraulic components, electric motors and controls, VFD’s, relays, PLC input / output cards (No programming required), electronic components capacitors, IGBT’s, Circuit Boards, photocells, proximity switches, auto leveling devices, interlocks, power and control wiring, coils, contactors, bearings, reducers, belts, chains, rollers, and other related equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical / mechanical issues and make repairs based on a root cause analysis.
- Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists or other lifting devices, hand tools and power tools.
- First responder to various equipment issues or system alarms.
- Efficiently troubleshoot 24, 110, 277, 480 volt circuits from source to load using electrical schematics.
- Troubleshoot and repair communication cables including telecommunication lines.
- Modify equipment to improve efficiency in operations (ARC, MIG, Plasma cutting, Oxy / acetylene fabrication).
- Maintains maintenance records in computer based CMMS such as inspections, repairs, materials used and tracking backlogged work.
- Attend requested / required training, demonstrating a willingness to learn.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support team and customers needs.

24.50-$26.21 hourly, based on experience
