Performance Objectives
- Financial Reporting & Cost Management
- Within the first 60 days, establish a comprehensive understanding of the facility’s financial processes, cost structures, and reporting requirements.
- Lead the monthly financial closing process, ensuring accurate cost accounting, variance analysis, and financial statements within corporate deadlines.
- Implement and refine standard cost methodologies, supporting annual cost roll processes.
- Operational & Inventory Control
- Develop and enforce strong financial controls for inventory valuation, cycle counts, and cost allocation, reducing discrepancies by X% within the first 6 months.
- Oversee and improve tracking of material, labor, and overhead costs, ensuring real-time visibility into production expenses.
- Monitor and report on capital expenditures (CAPEX), ensuring proper classification and timely placement of fixed assets.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Build and mentor a high-performing accounting team, setting clear expectations and development plans.
- Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, ensuring that the team drives efficiency in financial processes.
- Establish a knowledge-sharing system to enhance the team's technical skills in GAAP compliance, financial systems (JD Edwards, Essbase), and cost accounting best practices.
- Strategic Business Partnership
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Operations, Procurement, and Finance) to provide insights on cost trends, process improvements, and efficiency projects.
- Analyze purchase price variance (PPV) and manufacturing variances, identifying root causes and driving corrective actions to reduce costs.
- Support corporate internal controls and audit requirements, ensuring full compliance with policies and procedures.
- Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Identify and implement automation and process enhancements in financial reporting and cost tracking within the first 90 days.
- Lead or support cost reduction initiatives that deliver measurable improvements to the facility’s profitability.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and best practices, proactively recommending financial process optimizations.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CMA, CPA, or MBA preferred.
- Strong expertise in cost accounting, financial analysis, and GAAP compliance.
- Proficiency with JD Edwards, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting tools such as Essbase.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop teams, with a track record of improving accounting processes.
- Excellent analytical skills to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with flexibility to adjust schedules as needed.
