Strategic Leadership & Cross-Site Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a multi-site, product line-based team of engineers and technicians responsible for NPI and process scale-up.
- Establish and drive a cohesive NPI strategy that aligns with the company’s business and technology roadmaps.
- Serve as the primary liaison between cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment in product development and introduction strategies.
- Champion a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence within the NPI team.
- Drive multiple NPI projects through the Stage-Gate framework, ensuring that project milestones, deliverables, and risk management strategies are met at each phase.
- Lead cross-functional gate reviews, ensuring senior leadership is informed on project risks, progress, and go/no-go decisions.
- Define and oversee key project metrics, including cost, quality, time-to-market, and manufacturability.
- Ensure design-for-manufacturability (DFM) principles are integrated early in the development process to enable seamless production scale-up.
- Oversee production trials, validation activities, and manufacturing ramp-up across multiple sites.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to define capital investment needs and develop robust manufacturing processes for new products.
- Partner with R&D, Quality, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams to ensure robust supplier validation, material availability, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with new products, materials, and processes through structured risk assessment tools (FMEA, DOE, etc.).
- Ensure that regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements are met for all NPI projects.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the NPI process to reduce time-to-market and increase operational efficiency.
- Leverage data-driven methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, PFMEA) to optimize product launch success rates.
- Implement best practices for knowledge transfer and technical documentation to ensure long-term process sustainability.
- Provide executive-level reporting on NPI project status, risks, and key technical decisions.
- Communicate project goals and progress to cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment across engineering, operations, and business leaders.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Materials, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or related field) required.
- Master’s degree (preferred) in Engineering, Business, or related discipline.
- 10 years of experience in product development, process engineering, or new product introduction, with a strong background in manufacturing environments.
- 5 years of leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale NPI projects through a structured Stage-Gate or similar process.
- Experience with extrusion, polymer composites, or related manufacturing processes is highly preferred.
- Strong expertise in process scale-up, tooling development, and manufacturing process optimization.
- Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Advanced knowledge of DFM, FMEA, Lean, Six Sigma, and process validation methodologies.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with experience presenting to senior leadership.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% to support manufacturing sites and project implementations.
