Position Summary:
The Director of Process Engineering and Continuous Improvement is responsible for driving operational excellence by implementing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies across the organization. This role will lead a team focused on optimizing manufacturing and business processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality. Additionally, the Director will oversee the New Product Introduction (NPI) function, ensuring the seamless transition of new products from development to full-scale production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute a comprehensive continuous improvement strategy utilizing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to drive operational efficiency and cost reduction.
- Lead and mentor a team of process engineers and continuous improvement professionals in identifying and implementing process enhancements.
- Act as a subject matter expert in Lean and Six Sigma, fostering a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Oversee the New Product Introduction (NPI) function, ensuring smooth handoffs from product development to manufacturing and commercialization and aligned with the AZEK Stage Gate process.
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Supply Chain, Quality, and Manufacturing, to optimize processes and ensure operational readiness for new product launches.
- Identify, prioritize, and manage process improvement initiatives, leveraging data-driven analysis to support decision-making.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the success of process improvement projects and operational efficiencies.
- Drive standardization and best practices across multiple sites, ensuring scalability and sustainability of improvements.
- Implement training programs to develop Lean and Six Sigma capabilities within the organization.
- Lead problem-solving initiatives using Six Sigma DMAIC methodology to address critical operational challenges.
- Stay current on industry trends and best practices in process engineering and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Certified Lean Professional and Six Sigma Black Belt required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in process engineering, continuous improvement, and operational excellence roles within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Proven leadership experience in managing teams and driving cross-functional collaboration.
- Demonstrated expertise in Lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodology, and process optimization.
- Experience leading New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives, ensuring effective integration into production environments.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Effective communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Experience working in a multi-site environment is a plus.
Work Environment:
- Combination of office and manufacturing environment with periodic travel required to various company locations.
- Ability to lead hands-on process improvement initiatives on the production floor.

Compensation for roles at AZEK varies depending on a wide range of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set and level of experience.
