Billing Specialist – Healthcare Billing
Permanent | $24-26/hour
Are you a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical and mathematical skills? We’re looking for a Billing Specialist to join our team! This role focuses on ensuring accurate and timely follow-up on billed accounts, verifying payments align with contracted rates, and maintaining high-quality account management. Hands-on training provided!
What You’ll Do:
✔ Follow up on third-party balance due accounts for timely payments
✔ Contact payers via web portals, phone, and correspondence for claim status
✔ Verify insurance coverage and manage billed insurance claims
✔ Analyze insurance EOBs/remittances to confirm payments align with contracted rates
✔ Process denial appeals, claim corrections, and voids as needed
✔ Handle credit balances and issue refunds for self-pay and insurance accounts
✔ Submit primary and secondary claims via the Epic system
✔ Document follow-up actions with clear and concise account notes
✔ Work efficiently through 30-40 accounts daily
✔ Communicate professionally with clinical sites and account guarantors
What We’re Looking For:
✅ Experience in hospital or professional billing
✅ Strong math, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills
✅ Clear and professional communication skills
✅ Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party insurance billing
✅ Proficiency in claims processing, insurance follow-ups, and denial management
✅ Ability to work independently while following company policies
✅ Computer proficiency (35 WPM) and HIPAA compliance knowledge
Preferred Qualifications:
➕ Certified Medical Coder or relevant billing certification
➕ 1-2 years of healthcare billing experience
➕ College degree in a related field
