Position : Middle School English Teacher Substitute (Leave Replacement)

The Baldwin School is seeking a leave replacement substitute Middle School English teacher to teach three sections of Grade 8 English and one section of Grade 7 Literacy from January to April.
All Baldwin teachers participate in the life of the School and support the School's mission. Successful candidates will engage in those duties typical of independent school life, and will have an understanding of and appreciation for girls' education.
Successful candidates will enjoy working collaboratively with other grade-level teachers to develop innovative and engaging lessons to meet the needs of all learners.
They will possess expertise in a range of literary genres and time periods and be committed to seeking out new voices to include in their classes.
Successful candidates will engage students positively, with a growth mindset, and interact productively with colleagues and parents.
Responsibilities :
- Work with other grade-level teachers to build cross-curricular connections;
- Collaborate with other grade-level teachers and the learning support team to scaffold and teach skills needed across all disciplines;
- Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability and commitment to growth for yourself and your students;
- In partnership with the Department Chair, develop appropriate curriculum and lessons to prepare students for the next level of classes;
- Assess student work and provide feedback
- Serve as an advisor, club leader, chaperone, or other co-curricular leader in support of the Middle School; and
- Other duties as assigned by the Division Director or Head of School.
Required Qualifications Include :
- B.A. in English required; M.A in English and / or education preferred;
- 3 years of teaching experience, or its equivalent, preferably at the middle school level;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Expertise in differentiating instruction in reading and writing; and
- Experience using academic technology software and classroom technology.
