Summer@Baldwin Summer Camp is hiring a camp art coordinator to join our fun filled day camp! We are looking for a creative, energetic, and organized Summer Camp Art Coordinator to join our team and bring the joy of arts and crafts to our campers. The Art Coordinator will be responsible for planning, organizing, and leading arts and crafts activities for campers of all ages, ensuring that every project is both fun and educational. This position requires someone who can balance creativity with organization, manage supplies, and create a positive, engaging environment for campers to express themselves artistically. This position will start June 9th, 2025. The program runs Monday through Friday from June 16th - August 1st. The person in this position must be able to commit to the seven weeks of camp.
Responsibilities:
Arts & Crafts Program Planning & Execution:
- Plan Daily Arts & Crafts Activities: Develop and organize daily arts and crafts projects suitable for a range of ages, from younger children to pre-teens.
- Prepare Project Materials: Gather and prepare all necessary materials and supplies for each day's activities, ensuring that projects are ready to be executed smoothly.
- Lead Arts & Crafts Instruction: Teach and guide campers in various art projects, providing clear instructions and encouragement as they work on their crafts.
- Foster Creativity: Create an environment where campers feel comfortable expressing themselves through their artwork. Encourage campers to explore new techniques, materials, and ideas.
Supply Management & Inventory:
- Organize Art Supplies: Ensure that all art materials and tools are stored properly, keeping the art room clean, neat, and well-organized for easy access.
- Inventory & Restocking: Conduct weekly inventory of art supplies, track usage, and report any needed materials or restocks to the Camp Assistant Manager.
- Maintain Supply Levels: Monitor the use of supplies throughout the camp season and ensure the art room is fully stocked and ready for each activity.
Clean-Up & Maintenance:
- Preparation & Clean-Up: Set up the art area before each activity and clean up after each session, ensuring that the space remains organized and all materials are returned to their proper places.
- Art Room Maintenance: Maintain a clean and safe art room, ensuring that the area is always ready for use and complies with camp's safety and cleanliness standards.
Support & Flexibility:
- Fill In for Other Areas as Needed: Occasionally assist in other areas of the camp as needed or when scheduled, helping out with different activities or roles in support of the overall camp experience.
- Additional Duties: Take on any other tasks or responsibilities assigned by the Camp Director, ensuring the smooth operation of the camp.
Camper Engagement & Supervision:
- Encourage Positive Behavior: Supervise campers during arts and crafts activities, maintaining a positive and respectful atmosphere. Assist campers with behavior management if needed.
- Support Individual Needs: Provide additional help and encouragement to campers who may need extra support or guidance with their art projects.
- Promote Camp Spirit: Foster a sense of community and teamwork within the art sessions, encouraging campers to share their work and celebrate each other's creativity.
Requirements:● Must be at least twenty (20) years of age● High school or equivalent (College Degree Preferred)
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in arts and crafts, teaching, or working with children in a camp or educational setting is preferred.
- Creative Skills: Strong artistic background and a passion for working with children through creative projects. Ability to teach a variety of art techniques and projects.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational abilities to manage supplies, maintain inventory, and ensure that the art room is kept clean and orderly.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain artistic concepts to campers of all ages.
- Patience & Flexibility: Ability to work with children of varying abilities and temperaments, maintaining a calm, patient, and flexible attitude.
- Team Player: Collaborative and able to work effectively with other camp staff members to create an engaging and positive camp experience.
