About the Role
The Baltimore Banner is seeking a Senior Manager of Institutional Giving to join a growing Philanthropy team to expand The Banner’s efforts securing funding from institutional sources. The Senior Manager of Institutional Giving would collaborate across the organization to develop competitive proposals for local and regional opportunities by conducting project and prospect research; developing customized cultivation and solicitation strategies; writing proposals and reports; managing a grant production schedule; maintaining accurate electronic donor records and hard files; and managing the stewardship of grantors. This position reports to the Director of Philanthropy and is located in Baltimore, Maryland.
Responsibilities
- Develop competitive proposals and persuasive narratives for current and future-year fundraising priorities
- Oversee both the pre-award and post-award activity including coordinating receipt of award documentation, maintaining proposal and funding records in database systems
- Prepare scheduled and special grant reports, studies and analyses.
- Meet grant deadlines and build a Master Grants Calendar
- Build and manage a portfolio of approximately 50 institutional relationships; manage relationships with a diversified network of funding organizations locally, regionally and nationally.
- Conduct research on continual basis to identify potential funding sources
- Stay abreast of current trends in philanthropy and best practices in fundraising
- Forge strong working relationships with staff throughout organization to maximize fundraising opportunities
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of grant writing experience with a proven record of successful fundraising through grants and donor solicitation
- Proficiency with donor databases; Raiser’s Edge/NXT preferred
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral
- Ability to work independently and in collaboration with colleagues
Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000 Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by several factors including experience, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
