Job Description/Responsibilities

All employees of The Bardstown Bourbon Company must have the following characteristics:

• Comfortable interacting daily with Bardstown Bourbon Company customers as well as tour groups and guests in a hospitality-focused environment

This Position Requires The Following

• Responsible for the assurance for quality and food safety of the product
• Assisting with opening and closing duties, such as restocking the bar with garnishes, straws, and napkins, ensuring that Bartenders have clean towels, glassware, etc.
• Will assist with prep work (cutting fruits and vegetables, preparing syrups, etc.)
• Ensure the bar is well-stocked with ice, liquor, wine, and beer.
• Check taps and appliances to confirm that they are working properly.
• Keeping the bar clean by wiping down surfaces, sweeping, mopping, removing soiled glassware, scrubbing coolers and storage areas, and emptying trash receptacles.
• Provide exceptional guest experience and connect with visitors through education and bar menu selections.
• Strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors and driving while under the influence.
• Maintain the highest health standards, sanitation, and cleanliness in the beverage/bar area to meet local, state and government guidelines.
• Able to fill in for bartenders when needed (preparing drinks)
• Opening tabs and bussing tables
• Willingness to learn how to open and close the bar.
• Available to work private events occurring off-schedule.
• Participate in continuous training and educational opportunities to further develop mixology concepts.
• Must be willing to take the company-paid course and become certified Stave & Thief Executive Bourbon Steward.
• Serving tables, as needed.
• Commitment for the Company’s ISO program including the quality and food safety of our products.
• Other Duties as assigned by management.
  
  

Essential Skills And Experience

• Must be at least 21 years old to serve alcohol.
• Must have active listening and effective communication skills, with experience in public speaking a plus.
• Positive interpersonal skills required.
• Be an exceptional communicator.
• Knowledge of principles for providing outstanding customer service.
• Must enjoy working within a team environment but also be a self-starter.
  
  

Role Qualifications

• A high school diploma and recognized formal certified training program, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least 2 years’ experience as a bartender or barback preferred.
  
  

Physical Demands

While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:

• Speak, hear, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects as well as reach with hands and arms.
• Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Climb and balance.
• Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, and pulling.
