Job Overview:
We are seeking a responsible and compassionate individual to join our team as a Kennel Attendant. The Kennel Attendant will be primarily responsible for the care and well-being of animals boarded at our facility. This role involves maintaining cleanliness, providing proper nutrition, administering medications if necessary, and ensuring the comfort and safety of all animals under our care. The ideal candidate will possess a love for animals, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service to both pets and their owners.
Responsibilities:
- Provide daily care and supervision for animals boarded, grooming or participating in Daycare at the facility.
- Clean and sanitize kennels, runs, and surrounding areas to maintain a safe and healthy environment for animals.
- Feed animals according to specific dietary requirements and schedules.
- Administer medications and supplements as directed by veterinarians or pet owners.
- Monitor animals for any signs of illness or distress and report any concerns to the appropriate staff member.
- Exercise and socialize animals through supervised playtime and interaction.
- Perform grooming tasks such as brushing, bathing, and nail trimming as needed.
- Assist with intake and discharge procedures, including documenting relevant information about each animal.
- Maintain accurate records of animal care, including feeding schedules, medications administered, and any observed health issues.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries and ensuring their satisfaction with the care provided to their pets.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with animals in a professional setting preferred.
- Previous customer service experience
- Knowledge of basic animal care and behavior.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to protocols for animal care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability to lift and carry animals and supplies, as well as perform cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime as needed.
- Compassion and patience when handling animals, especially those who may be anxious or in distress.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be amenable to work on weekends
- Must be amenable to work 8 to 10 per working day
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Stamina to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
- Tolerance for exposure to animal dander, fur, and cleaning chemicals.
Working Conditions:
The Kennel Attendant will primarily work indoors in a kennel or boarding facility environment, providing top-notch care for our furry companions. This role involves exposure to loud noises, animal odors, and cleaning chemicals, as well as occasional outdoor work such as walking dogs or maintaining outdoor play areas.
In this position, you may also be required to work with dogs of various temperaments, including those that may exhibit aggressive behavior. Training and support will be provided to ensure you can confidently and safely handle these situations, always prioritizing the well-being of the animals and your own safety.
